My proposition for bees is that you can find bee hives (Small brown, boxes hanging from big trees) randomly through the forest, destroying these hives will drop Honey, and paper (Not so sure about paper). Though if trying to break a beehives you have a chance of taking a small amount of damage. Honey can be consumed for 1 unit of hunger, and can be used in certain recipes for other foods (Just opening more possibilities.) Honey can also be a replacement for slimeballs in the recipes for sticky pistons and leeds. If a bee hive is within 30 blocks of a flower, the flower has an extremely low chance of spreading (Much like mushrooms), though only a certain amount of flowers are allowed in one area (much like mushrooms). Bee hives should also have a very small chance of forming on naturally generated sideways logs (on big oak trees) so that there wouldn't be a limited amount of hives, like there are lily pads. Feel free to express your opinion on this addition. Thanks for your time.
Also note that I am aware of the other suggestions for bees and hives, I find that my description of an addition pertaining to bees/hives preserves the Vanilla feel to the game, which is also why I hesitate to add any features that give the player the ability to breed bees, and make hives. Mods do a great job covering bee breeding.

It is an interesting idea for certain.
I wouldn't mind walking through a forest and seeing bees doing their thing and what-not.
And if they could be Silked, then I do think they should be log-only items.

And since bees pollinate flowers, your suggestion that more flowers can't grow near hives makes no sense, even in MC. It would make more sense for more flowers to grow near hives, as long as there was space for them.
Not a bad idea and why not making beehives like on farms that you can harvest honey without breaking the hive and a special suit that makes sure you arent dealt damage when you harvest honey or break hives.

You misread what I said, I meant that flowers ONLY have a chance to spread when within that range of a hive, anyway why are you so keen on showing me up? I honestly don't like your idea, I agree with the spawning requirements but other than that it's too complex, it'd fit better as a mod. As where my suggestion keeps everything fairly simple and preserves the Vanilla feel to the game.

I'm sorry you feel I'm trying to compete with you. I'm actually more interested in cooperation than competition and I do like some of your ideas for bees and hives. Now that I understand what you were saying, I think the idea for allowing flowers to spread when near beehives is a good one.
I don't think that my idea is too complex. It's just detailed. It's part of my nature that I try to think of every possible circumstance and decide on a reasonable outcome. If a suggestion is made and some detail is left out, we can hardly complain if the suggestion is put into the game and then we discover it wasn't implemented the way the suggester wanted.
Thinking of "everything" is also a necessary skill for a programmer. I've done quite a bit of programming in several different languages, so I understand at least the principles of how MC works "behind the scenes". When I make a suggestion, I'm usually thinking "how complicated would this be to program?" The more detail in the suggestion, the easier it is to program (presuming it's ever used).
I'm sorry if I was rude to you. You're welcome to take ideas from my bee suggestion thread if you think there's something useful there.

I like this idea! Though I still think it should only be able to be place on trees, or some environment like that.
Good point.
Slimeballs can be a pain to get, especially if you have no deep caves around.
Eh, half support

Like I said, been there and suggested that and in more detail.

Suits that protect against bee damage? Check!

just go to a swamp.I like this idea and to see bees as a mob flying around interacting with flowers and such making minecraft more lively
BA
Beehives would make forests more interesting in the game and honey has OH SO MANY cooking possibilities.
Full support.
