On a server it would be dangerous to afk, since a griefer, or a griefer team, could push several of these around you, so you would be stuck there forever.
I'm actually in favour of making going afk more dangerous.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.
There are exactly two scenarios where this block will do anything at all:
First, when people lock you up in a tiny space of it and closes it behind you so that only someone from the outside can alter them and let you out.
Second: When you are trying to dig out a larger area and you realize that in the approximate center of your giant hall there will be a load of these compacted "Trollium" lumps.
Any other scenario can be negated with the same force that brought them, meaning all constructive uses for this block is nonexistent. Don't believe me? Then ponder this: You want a locked piston door requiring the right signal to open it? Too bad because this block can be pushed by OTHER's pistons as well. You want a solid house that is Grief-resistent? Too bad that this pistonium-block is about a few 100%'s harder to gather than the piston required to tear it down. See what I am getting at?
This block holds less potential than bedrock for making sure that players can't interact with it in any negative way, yet it will be the over-all top-ranking deliverer of tedium and boredom to all players wanting to be creative within the cursed biome these obsolete lumps of uselessness would make their appearance in. No matter how descriptive the name pistonium is for such a pointless addition it still seems too uncreative, don't you think?
If you hadn't guessed by now, no support, and you have my sincere wish that this will not be added to the clay-mountains- or any other biome intended for the use of regular players for that matter.
You want a locked piston door requiring the right signal to open it? Too bad because this block can be pushed by OTHER's pistons as well.
Only if they brought a piston with them.
You want a solid house that is Grief-resistent?
Not entirely. This would just be one more tool. Obsidian is pretty useful against griefers too.
Too bad that this pistonium-block is about a few 100%'s harder to gather than the piston required to tear it down. See what I am getting at?
"Tear it down" is a bit of an exaggeration. Sure they can put a hole in it, if they have a piston. But somehow I doubt they're going to push the pistonium all the way back to their own base.
it will be the over-all top-ranking deliverer of tedium and boredom to all players wanting to be creative within the cursed biome these obsolete lumps of uselessness would make their appearance in.
Again, I think you're exaggerating. If a player is willingly moving loads of pistonium to a house on the surface (or whatever), then I don't think it counts as tedium. After all, there are lots of things players do that would be considered tedious by many others, and this is entirely voluntary. As for the involuntary encounters with this block, this would merely be a minor inconvenience. You're already trying to hollow out a huge underground hall? Yeah, you've got a lot bigger problems.
No matter how descriptive the name pistonium is for such a pointless addition it still seems too uncreative, don't you think?
You have a better thought? Actually, I have another block in mind that could maybe use the name Pistonium. Or maybe a modification. See, "pistonium" implies that it has the properties of a piston, which it doesn't. But what if Pistonium was kind of like a naturally-occuring piston? What if pistonium expanded in all six directions when it got hit with a redstone signal... Or let's say the five directions that aren't where the signal came from.
"Tear it down" is a bit of an exaggeration. Sure they can put a hole in it, if they have a piston. But somehow I doubt they're going to push the pistonium all the way back to their own base.
#1: Yes, griefers won't know about the pistonium and will not bring their own pistons because Mojang will have mentioned it
#2: Yes, they will pull the pistonium to their own base and not bother griefing and looting their target house, which was their original plan
There are enough people that would like it. Having to put loads of effort on something is painful, but you don't HAVE to do it, pistonium won't force you to make a house with it... There don't even have to be over 50% of the people liking pistonium, as long as the ones who do like it enjoy it enough. Next time you're flaming someone's epicness to dust please give good reasons why his suggestion would affect the game or the mood of the players in a bad way.
Yesterday I've suggested an unmineable ore, I hope I was the one who inspired you, if yes then I'm glad to have inspired you as your suggestion is really cool! I hope this will get somewhere!
Woah woah woah woah. I was not flaming at all. Lets all calm down a little. I was merely voicing my opinion, which by the way others have agreed with. I was polite and even said "No thanks". Please think before you type.
That's an easy one. Mountains are nuisances for people who want to build a large building in a flat space. If you haven't encountered an inconvenient mountain in Minecraft, then you haven't truly played Minecraft. Are you telling me you've never ever had a building that would be easier to build if there weren't a mountain (or hill) in the way?
Then don't build on the fricken mountain. Go find a plains biome or desert biome or something. It's not my problem you don't want to explore your world. Or dig up the mountain. Because obviously if you have enough time to push ore up to the surface with a piston you have enough time to teraform a mountain.
I agree sometimes biomes are nuisances. Spawning in a desert biome very first thing? Hard start: no trees, open spaces, and the only building material you can gather with you bare hands is sand which you cant even make a roof out of. and no farm animals generate there.
So what do you do? YOU LEAVE THE DESERT. YOU GO BUILD YOUR BASE SOMEWHERE ELSE. GAHHHHH
So what do you do? YOU LEAVE THE DESERT. YOU GO BUILD YOUR BASE SOMEWHERE ELSE. GAHHHHH
What if the entire map is desert?

"Colder than the snow that blankets the earth" "Colder than the ice that cover the stones and freezes the rivers" "Colder than the north wind blowing through a winter-bound forest" "Colder than all these is the smile of a Shade of the Dark"
This is possibly the most ridiculous idea I've seen all week.
You want to incorporate a block into Minecraft that cannot be mined nor blown up, but can only be moved with the assistance of pistons? The common argument you're bringing up is that it's the "ultimate pranking/grief protection." Nearly all servers have a plugin or two that already protects users from griefers; nobody is going to go through the struggle of bringing a bedrock-like block up to the surface for the sake of security.
Stop going against the others that are not supporting this suggestion. Just because you (supposedly) can use pistons to move blocks from caves doesn't mean we're all too weak hearted to. Take the community into thought before spitting out a concept like this.

Someone will. And that's all I ask for. But hey, if pistoning blocks all the way back to you house is too much work, you could always settle in a Disco Hills biome (or wherever this block ends up) in a cave and only have to move the blocks a bit.

Just because you don't want to play Minecraft exactly how I want to, doesn't mean my suggestion isn't good. Pushing these blocks around is just one application; there are plenty of other aspects that have been discussed, as well as applications I haven't even thought of yet. And even if, after all this, you can't find it in your heart to appreciate even one application, that's fine, because you'll barely ever see this block. I can't believe you're talking like I'm doing some disservice to the community, when if there are any community members who don't want to deal with this block, they don't have to.

I can either be blunt or baby every single word you say to make you feel better, but being blunt is the only way to get through people's heads these days. I apologize if my post(s) has brought you any resentment.
You say you wish this block to be added for vanilla gameplay.. This block would be rendered useless in single player, and I assure you every server has some way to track to eliminate griefers. Whether it be a plugin, using evidence from multiple players, or browsing through files, there is a way in which justice will be brought. Bringing in a bedrock equivalent block would just be overkill.
Practically everybody that posted on this thread is against your idea; that's the breaking point. Just because you think it's the world's greatest idea doesn't mean that the majority of the community will, and it's quite clear that the majority doesn't support it.
I recommend you read up on http://www.minecraft...g-a-suggestion/, especially the 'Commonly Used Excuses/Mistakes' section. Most of your flaws lie there.
Again, being blunt is the only way to criticize on the 'Suggestions' topic. It makes things easier for all.
Which they wouldn't have to have if Minecraft had more options for protecting your house. But I'm not here to suggest plugins. I'm suggesting for the vanilla game.
Minecraft has more options of protecting your house, aside from the traditional thick obsidian wall, players use auto-rebuilding walls, cactus traps, TNT mines and cannons, arrow/fire charge traps, Mob-pit traps, collapsing sand traps, and other redstone and non-redstone based traps and defense mechanisms.
Inspired by a recent suggestion by rarekwiebus about an unmineable ore. I'm proposing pistonium, a new ore. Let's put it in one of the new biomes. I'd say Disco Hills is probably a good candidate.
Pistonium has the strength and blast resistance of bedrock. You simply cannot mine it or explode it. But, it's pushable by pistons.
The texture is a smooth-stone base with inlaid mini pistons. It should be made to tile a bit like brick, so that it looks awesome when you make a house out of it.
This block is so hard to build with, it wouldn't be worth a griefer's time. But for your serious pranker, this is the perfect block. It's also good for protecting your house from all but the most determined griefers.
Images:
Woah woah woah woah!
Woah woah woah woah woah, and... Woah!
Unbreakable and only pushable by Pistons!?
Jeb, Dinnerbone, Nobody could let this be vanilla. It should be pushed by a Piston to obtain it, should have a mineral block, and an actual use other then inconceivable thoughts.
if by a "handful of practical uses" you mean five, then I guess we're settled. I don't think any new block needs more than five practical uses to be a good idea.
But it's ridiculous downsides overcome such practical uses, people clearing out the interior of mountains will be extremely annoyed by the pistonium laying around forcing them to bring pistons all the time? No one will like that, another thing is that griefing protection is up to the servers. Mojang shouldn't fiddle with something that started in the community, we don't need anti-troll blocks, or anti-abuse blocks. It will also break PvP (which is already broken enough) a nearly indestructible block that can only be pushed by pistons? Such a block should be left to Obsidian.

I can take it. Be blunt. But try to be accurate.
This block would be rendered useless in single player
Wrong. It would be useable against creepers. It would be useful in machines, especially ones that use TNT. It would be an interesting obstacle for those exploring Disco Hills. It would be different. The problem with Minecraft is all the blocks work the same, which is boring! This would add some interest and some spice. And don't tell me how annoying it is! If you hate being inconvenienced, don't play SSP. Don't even play creative mode. Play Minecraft via MCEdit if you hate it so much!
, and I assure you every server has some way to track to eliminate griefers. Whether it be a plugin, using evidence from multiple players, or browsing through files, there is a way in which justice will be brought. Bringing in a bedrock equivalent block would just be overkill.
Malicious griefers, that's one thing. Kick 'em off if you have to. I'm okay with that. But there are servers that allow griefing, that see griefing and avoiding griefing as a part of the gameplay. You accuse me of ignoring some players needs, but here you are ignoring huge segments of the player base who are playing Minecraft as intended.
Practically everybody that posted on this thread is against your idea; that's the breaking point. Just because you think it's the world's greatest idea doesn't mean that the majority of the community will, and it's quite clear that the majority doesn't support it.
If everybody on this thread thought it was a good idea to go jump off a bridge, would you do it?
The fact is, most of them are reacting out of pure spite and stubbornness. They're not even content to leave it at "not for me" (although some are, and I respectfully disagree with them). They have to make statements like "worst suggestion ever". As if it's some huge affront that a block like this could ever be allowed to exist in Minecraft. Look, if you think Minecraft is perfect and nothing should be changed, and everything should work exactly how it already works, then the Suggestions forum is not going to be a happy place for you, and I Suggest that you go elsewhere, for the sake of your own sanity.
I recommend you read up on http://www.minecraft...g-a-suggestion/, especially the 'Commonly Used Excuses/Mistakes' section. Most of your flaws lie there.
That article is poorly written. Nicely formatted, but the ideas in it are garbage. It's incomplete, and in many places flat-out wrong on game design. If you have a specific criticism, please explain. A vague explanation like "it would be annoying" doesn't help anyone. Lots of things in Minecraft are annoying. When you can tell me the line between annoying and challenging (which that article doesn't even try to do), I'll consider your argument.
Again, being blunt is the only way to criticize on the 'Suggestions' topic. It makes things easier for all.
Well that much I agree with you on. It is better to be blunt. I've always been blunt, and I post my suggestions for a reason, because I think they're good. If the majority of posters can't articulate their objections, that's okay. I'm here to help and educate.

This is a better suggestion than 90% of the suggestions on the first two pages. If there's a suggestion you like, you're allowed to bump it. Though it would help if you had something constructive to add.
Now this is getting really forced. What makes this idea better than most exactly, because you simply said so?

Hey, you there. Yes, you! Are you thinking about posting a suggestion on the forums anytime soon? If so, please read this before doing so.
The fact that it has a unique mechanic. The fact that it fits with Minecraft by using existing pieces in a unique way. The fact that it doesn't try to emulate some other video game. The fact that it doesn't try to give you something cheap by bypassing existing restrictions. The fact that it doesn't attempt to circumvent intended gameplay.
