Recently i went on a holiday. I went around with my family and one day we went gold panning. that gave me series of ideas the i put under the title "Gold Rush". All are simple, basic ideas for mining or finding ores/reasorces.
The first on i had thought up off was a slight chance of gold nuggets spawning in rivers. Mayby using a panning bowl or just a normal one It would be a i don't know 1/50 chance per block. (place holder for now) It wouldn't affect game play much but would still be a feature that some might use. You could make alot of gold, but killing pigmen would be more effective. (or mining)
Second off was a land feature called "density" (Still need a better name) this would mean that this biome would have more ores, hence the name 'density". the rate would be slight, mayby 5%-15% more ores then a normal biome. These would have a 1/5 chance off spawning. Also can happen in any biome.
The last idea i had was a new enchantment called "luck"(Need a better name, Suck with names lol) This would give you a chance when mining blocks to drop a gold nugget or something. If you got the block it will only drop the gold nugget. (thank jak0theshadow for this idea The chance of this happening would be 1/100 (subjected to change, could be op)
If you have any better names/ideas for this comment them or private mail me.
Also note that i'll +1 anyone who's idea i like and add to the topic.
The concept is a pretty nifty one, I would change the chances to be a bit harder of finding them, only because I'm all for scarcity and the struggle to survive, but the basis of your idea is cool.

Check out my Lets Play! It would be much appreciated! :3
Maybe a panning bowl that would only work if you right click it on a dirt or sand block underwater and it would have a 1/5 chance to give you a gold nugget and the durability would be about 150.

Something like this, because, unless the suggested rate in the OP is lowered, that would be a ton of gold (4 block wide x 30 block long river=120 submerged dirt/sand blocks divided by 15 blocks per minute is 8 gold nuggets every minute. Not to mention longer or wider rivers).
But I don't think a new bowl would be needed so much as a "panning" animation when using a bowl on water in a river?
To get back to the OP, maybe the a chunk with "density" could be 5% of all chunks generated in a world?
As long as "luck" can only be used on naturally generated stone/ores, otherwise you could break a block with it, replace and repeat for unlimited gold with little to no effort.

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 99% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 1% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.
No I will not +1 you unless you say something worth +1ing. Respect is earned, not given.

Exactly.
It would take some coding to make but if this gets implemented (probally not) it would be worthwhile

I had a couple ideas for this you could help with the unlimited gold issue. One thought was to make the enchantment only work on blocks that cannot be recreated such as redstone ore, lapis ore, diamond ore, etc. Or it could work kind of like flint in that if it drops the nugget you lose the block. this would still make it preatty much unlimited. Just some thoughts. Perhaps the flint like idea and it only works on clay blocks.
Rather than having to make a pan, I think it would be better to just have gold ore occasionally spawn in rivers. The concept is great though. I would have never thought of this.

Thanks, thats all.
I don't want this to go to the depths of the forums where it won't be read!

That is a good idea!
I'll add it to the post now!
Why?
Have i wrote the post wrong?
Exactly.
