I think that Mojang should make it so that you can place golden ingots, or iron ones too I guess. It would be a really cool way to store your gold, and it would give gold another use XD. Maybe, in each block there could be 3 golden ingots on the bottom and so on to make a pyramid shape.
If you mean like gold bars in banks and stuff, it'd be cool to see. I wouldn't really use it, but it would be ok. I'm sure many others would like it, so I support.

Yeah, I mean Mojang added plat pots and stuff, it would just be there to look cool and store your ingots

How would the mechanics work? If you place 2 side-by-side and if they have the dimensions of a flower pot, would it automatically turn into a Gold Slab or something? You can't place 2 flower pots on the same block... I don't think Java can run super tiny blocks that well for it to be on one whole block.
this would be a whole stack:
/██\
/██\ /██\
/██\ /██\ /██\
If that makes any sense... I guess there would 6 different block types, for example: if the item id was 100 there would be 100, 100:1, 100:2, and so on. every time you right clicked the stack with a golden ingot, it would update the block to the next id
I like it. It could also be placed based on direction so you could have the going North-South or East-West depending on where you are when you place the first one. And even then it only uses 12 of the "damage" value slots.

Oh yeah I never even thought about that. If it was like that you could have a full "block" of golden ingots not just a pyramid
This would be a delightful aesthetic addition.
I assume you would pick them back up by... Wait, how would you pick them up? Pickaxe? I guess just punching them would make "sense" too, since they're just loose ingots so you should be able to just grab 'em...
Would there be ways to stack multiple blocks of piles of gold? Like, one pile on top of another?
I would assume that you would have to wait until one fills or put a block up one and over one, similar to how you have to if you want to put a block on top of a furnace or crafting table.

Not to hate on a popular idea but...gold blocks kinda makes this obsolete. The bank safety deposit box look can be made by stacking gold blocks.

It's more for looks.
Support.
It's not really for storage or efficiency, it's purely for aesthetics.
Not a gold block, but a stacked pile of gold ingots.
Don't worry, you weren't hating on anything, just pointing something out.
