Please put sideways logs back the way it used to be, placing them exactly the same as a piston. The new and "improved" way to place sideways logs is terrible. I know sometimes its a pain placing the logs the direction you want using the old method, this new method is worse. Perhaps a key press that allows you to toggle one axis or the other. I just really hate the new way to place sideways logs.
for instance, if you place 3 or 4 logs vertically, then place a log on the side of any of those logs as long as its not the one on the ground, it places sideways regardless of the position im in or direction im facing. but i usually never want to do that. thats the real gripe im having. having to place dirt or some other block in the air to get my logs to go in the direction i want.

Sideways Logs - Get over it, get over it, get over it.
The new version is definantly 10x better, and 10x easier. I remember once in 1.3.2, I litterally had to break a giant chunk of my house just to place a single log. If I haven't done it then, and did today, I would have had to break about one or two blocks to get into position to place the same log.
I agree a toggle key would be better, but that needs to go to a new suggestion post. Anyways, the new version of the sideways log placing is better because I don't have to go back and take away that log after I put it down by accident. So many times that has happened ._.
Gotta love the sophisticated debate going on here.
OP: I hate the new log placement system, it's an absolute pain. Almost as much as the old system, in fact, I'd rather have that than this. (Puts forward idea that could work for everybody)
Almost everyone else: The new one's perfect, shut your mouth!
Real classy, guys.

I prefer the new one. With the old one you'd try to place a log and it'd always go the wrong way, with the new one you just need to put it on the right face basically, which can be solved using dirt or some other easy to break block as a temporary surface (which is something you have to do for jack-o'-lanterns if you want them in the ceiling).
nooby question: were is the differnet between the "old" and the new" system of pacing logs?
The "old" system was placing it exactly like how you would a piston, based on where the player's facing - it was extremely annoying and inefficient.
The "new" system is placing it is based on which side of the block you're pointing from - it's bothersome, yes, but much less annoying.
Toggle key, toggle key, TOGGLE KEY. Think about it this way: It take more energy to type a key into a key board than it does to move a mouse slightly northward. If you want to save time and energy, just keep it as it is now. Also, think of it this way: It takes more energy AND time to complain about something that was made easier asked by the community than it is to move the mouse slightly northward.

I completely agree, sideways logs are awkward and rather pointless.

And, you, sir, have just lost an argument.
As for the idea, no. The new system is much, much better than the old one.
