Ok so this has been happening a lot recently. I close my door and I go into my bed. As I'm about to fall asleep, a Zombie or Skeleton spawns right next to me and attacks me. WTF??? BTW, my house is entirely closed and the door is shut, as stated before. Can someone please tell why this is? Thank you!
It has to do with bed placement. Make sure your bed is away from all walls, and that there is plenty of light. Also make sure there are no double doors.

I do NOT have double doors so scratch that. My bed is right on the wall so that's probably why. BTW, is this intentional or is this a bug/glitch?
No one quite knows for sure. There will be a patch with bug fixes fairly soon, with the 1.7.3 update coming next. No one has any solid dates besides "summer" at this point in time.
I hope they fix it. If a mob is outside the window he still shouldn't be able to get into my house made of stone and steel doors. I think leaving the bed in the middle of the room looks tacky. I don't think i'v ever been in someones house in real life where the bed wasn't against a wall...
The bug where mobs spawn when your bed is next to a wall should be fixed in the patch update. There is another problem with doors though as has been mentioned that likely won't be fixed. Not double doors specifically, but doors with their hinges on the wrong side. You should always place a door with blocks on the left-hand side so that the hinges are on the left to stop this problem.
^ That about sums it up...And tells you about another glitch lol

Not to be a stickler but as 'left' is subjective are we talking about an inside or outside of the house perspective? My assumption is outside as this is the way the door aligns but given that this is a glitch, it never hurts to clarify the point.

If you have a dirt floor / house try using cobblestone. I was having the same issue, tore down the whole house and rebuilt it exactly as it was before EXCEPT with cobblestone and no more baddies waking me up from my beauty sleep.
I don't know if it will help you but it did seem to help me.
Also, here is an awesome suggestion I had: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1745550-biome-effects/

Don't worry, it is a glitch. Eventually, being able to sleep will be determined by whether or not there are hostile mobs around.
