It has been confirmed, there will be no mods in Minecraft Xbox. It was announced at PAX East.
"400 Achievement Points; patches will be released on an ongoing basis (not like previous xbox games), but slightly behind pc in development. No modding will be possible, except community features - for example, you can join friends' worlds, which save themselves, and you can return to them later. The tutorial demonstrates the crafting table, creating tools, preparing for mobs at night time."
How many games for the xbox do you know that have mods? It's not exactly something that happens on a regular basis. I'm sure if they really had the power to they would include it, but it'd be hard to set up a whole thing for downloading mods. Especially because a lot of mods clash with each other and it'd just be a mess. Not to mention that not that many people really have the ability to make mods for the xbox. Maybe in the future it'd become possible. It's not like they're choosing to not include it.

This guy hit the nail on the head. I'm sure that, if given the choice, Mojang would have added this feature. It's sad, but - Vanilla is fun too!
I'm sticking to the pc version. I think that this is just one of those games that need to be played on the PC. Mods really enhance the experience and I pretty much knew going in that they probably wouldn't be included. Xbox Minecraft is probably going to be more of a "Social Experience" then PC minecraft would be, and I think that's pretty cool but I'm sticking to my recluse floating jungle home world where I can live without sunlight and sink all my free time into my ssp world via technic lol.

I really could care less whether the game has mods. I don't use them on the PC and I've been playing for almost 2 years. I haven't once gotten bored of vanilla Minecraft. the only mod I use is Optifine and obviously, on the Xbox 360, I won't need it.
I rarely ever use mods and I was mostly going to get the Xbox version for the social experience. I get tired of building amazing things in my worlds and not being able to invite people over to see them. So for me the no mods thing isnt a deal breaker
I laugh at the people who say minecraft is boring without mods. These people, I beleive, aren't true Minecrafters. Whats the point of liking a game, if the only reason you like it is because it is changed or modified in some way that it is not meant to be played?
Only mods I tend to use anyway are just things to make stuff easier.. I tend to be lazy. Like SPC for longer reach and fly, TMI if I don't feel like going back to my house to craft a replacement tool. A minimap because I'm too lazy to remember where things are, Timber! to cut a whole tree down in 1 block.. etc. So it's not THAT much of a change for me to play without mods. I just like the game itself.
Although, if anyone payed any attention at all, most people should have already known about the lack of mods. You really think Microsoft is just going to let people add whatever they want to a game on their system? I'd be surprised if they even had texture packs. The only way I could see texture packs or mods being added.. is if they're officially added to the game itself, as an option to turn on/off in the options/downloads/add-ons menu or something. But to do that, they'd either need to make the mods/texture packs themselves... or get permission to use mods/textures other people made, then pay the people that made them.

I agree. The only way I can see them doing texture packs is the way Total Miner does it. You can go into the options, and select from a list of texture packs...of course all the texture packs in Total Miner look like crap. That is the easiest and really the only way that Minecraft Xbox could include texture packs, which I hope will be the case.
I mainly use optifine and rei minimap. I love vanilla minecraft so it doesn't matter much to me. The only reason I use minimap is because I have to use short render distance on my pc but that obviously won't matter on Xbox.

^ This.
I'm not surprised at all. I don't care myself, because I never use mods.
Nowhere near the same developers. Xbox is so large is is barely even part of Microsoft dev wise.
*watches my point fly right over your star shaped head*
They all hold an ideal that their Source is not to be F*$ked with, so no mods.
I never claimed they were the same devs, you did that for yourself.
