With windows 8 approaching, a whole new line of windows 8 talets will be coming out. Now, if you get a very high end windows 8 tablet that is running full windows 8 and has an intel processor, then you SHOULD be ale to just downloadthe real minecaft on it, but what about the rest of us who will et a windows rt talet, if anything? I mean, microsoft was dumb with rt and made it so that you cant really use many thirdparty programs because they would be too "unpredictable to the tablet and could cause, ajor battery drainage and give it a short life span" (which im sure is true) so basically windows talets will be like ios, but a bit different because its still more free than ios. That being said, will mojang port minecraft over to the windows app store, or is it too early to tell, or what do you think? I mean if they do it will require another person to work on pe, and woukd definaiteky slow down production of the app, but then again we dont know for sure, it may be as easy as porting he pc version to the app store because idk if it will really require recoding. (though the pc version may get laggy on a tablet, but you get my idea.) anywho, discuss.

well, thats windows rt, i didnt feel like goining into the differennces much, but basically if you gt a low end tablet with windows rt, then yeah its gotta be on the app store, with full windows 8 then you should be good
Guys, Most windows 8 tablets (take the microsoft surface for example) CAN take a keyboard AND mouse input.
That means that you can still use a wireless keyboard (most come with them) And trackpad or mouse.
So, just download and instal minecraft like you would regularly on a PC, and use the keyboard!
All windows 8 tablets can take a keyboard, although not all come with one.
In a few months they will come out with a full windows 8 surface which will have the right processor so it should work on the new surface that will come out soon.
Sorry guys...i just found out that windows 8 (ON TABLETS) WILL NOT run minecraft.
windows 8 on laptops and desktops will. This is because windows 8 RT (the tablet OS) cannot run standard desktop applications. You must use the Microsoft store. Notch announced yesterday that he WILL NOT make minecraft available on the tore, as he wants to stay open-sourced. (i don't blame him!)
so sadly, minecraft will never be available for talets running windows 8.
the best we can hope for is minecraft pocket edition to be added to the store for download.
Meh... Just wait for microsoft surface PRO which run on full windows 8 not RT
Actually no.
Windows 8 pro for the surface and other tablets will still not be able to run traditional desktop applications.
It isnt the full windows 8 pro like on a desktop. Its more like windows 8 on a desktop, but not quite. It will run SOME apps like a desktop, but only those available on the microsoft store. And we already know, minecraft will never hit the store
hopefully pocket edition will become available!
Again, this is a dead topic! Windows 8 on anything other than PC windows 8 will never run regular Minecraft, nor will MCPE be ported to Windows RT! Now someone finish this!
I don't understand the problem here, couldn't you just plug in a mouse or connect a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard and just play minecraft in browser? You don't have to download it, the tablet should recognize that you are using the internet browser not minecraft.

What are you talking about? Windows 8 on tablets runs the same thing as desktops. Just Windows 8 Rt doesn't let you download third party programs because Windows RT tablets use arm processors instead of Intel or amd processors. And since arm is a mobile processors it can't handle third party applications very well at all. This is because applications are not optimized for arm, right?

Sorry man. you seem to be getting the wrong idea here...
When you run minecraft in-browser, its doing the same thing as minecraft on the desktop is doing. It downloads the SAME FILES, n THE SAME PLACES and runs them in THE SAME WAY as regular minecraft. The only diffrence is that it is in a browser really.
Secondly, windows 8 tablets DON'T EVEN SUPPORT JAVA! Java is needed to run minecraft, and without it, minecraft cannot exist. It is literally impossible to run regular minecraft on a windows 8 tablet. Or any tablet for that matter.
Lets say the tablet DID have java, and application support...
The tablrt still couldnt run the application because it simply lacks the power to. Windows 8 tablets have very low powered processors (yes they are ARM processors) and are built for mobile processing, not desktop processing. The Tablet wouldn't handle the application well, if at all.
And lastly, windows RT is ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than windows 8. RT has support for some apps, not all of them. It doesnt run desktop applications, and is Extremely lightweight. (meaning it isnt a resource hog)
Windows 8 (desktop version) Can run all apps on the store, ALL OF THEM. because the computers with windows 8 installed have unlimited potential (upgrades, etc,) And is can run ANY DESTOP APPLICATION that would run on windows 7 or any other version of windows.
The bottom line: Windows RT tablets will NEVER (and i mean never) run minecraft. EVER.
its just impossible.
Windows 8 pro (on desktop) WILL run minecraft without issues.
And as mentioned earlier: "Windows 8 pro will be on the surface soon" And the answer is yes, but it STILL WONT RUN desktop applications or support java, because of hardware limitations.
And thats the truth, i have a surface of my own, and i know alot about it, I also have a desktop running windows 8. That is all.

You got a source? Johan would surely mention something like this on MCPE's progress....

If it doesn't work, blame GNU and burn it all!
For great justice!
On a PC why ever would you want pocket edition
