I'm trying to start a simple server for myself and a few other people but the launcher found on the Minecraft site launches a 1.6.6 server. Anyone know how to fix this?
Fake because of the "https?" Sorry, but encryption doesn't deem a site as fake. Plus, they have a digital certificate.
Ok, but distributing the 1.6.6 doesn't seem fishy to you? (Or rather Phishy get it?)
And dude, please don't try to school me on https, I set my facebook to https and my tomato firmware based router to https also. And MC never used https.
The downloads on the https site still point to the same server for downloads as the regular http version of the site. It isn't distributing 1.6.6 versions of the files.
Oh gee, you set your router to https? Well here's some news for you - any site you connect to whose server isn't set up to run https isn't going to give you an encrypted connection.
Oh my god, shut up, I can see that it's a troll thread now.
How hard would it be to do a redirect, this is what I was saying.
EDIT: what site did you go to, I just tried the exe and it launches a 1.7.3 server.
This one. https://www.minecraft.net/download.jsp
I should launch the jar file this way using cmd right? "java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar" minus the quotes?
Wait...where do I launch that from?
Yeah. I've removed all of the existing files. The .jar works.

Well thanks for the heads up. I changed my password.
No problem, better safe than sorry!

I'm not trolling man. That's the site I was using to get the .exe from. I've had it saved since I bought MC a couple of months ago.
