Pretty useful if you have bought the game and you find it's laggy on your cheap laptop :biggrin.gif:
These are 3 techniques to try if Minecraft is laggy for you.
Firstly turn your graphics down in Minecraft options.
Give more power to Minecraft in Task Manager (Ctrl, Alt + Delete)
Give more power to your PC or laptop.
Just be careful when you change the process priority. High is usually safe but you should never set a process to real-time. You didn't do that in the video, but I'm just throwing that out there for any users who might over-zealously try real-time because it's higher.

Yea my friend does that sometimes, I avoid it because other areas of your PC become very unstable and your PC can crash.
I tried all of these and even using software to make my computer run faster. All of them worked wonders but Minecraft still runs very choppy. Is there anything else I could do?
oddly when i turned it to high, it made it run way more buggy. why? why game why?
Maybe a weak PSU is causing hardware stutter ?

To be honest i find minecraft runs way too fast, it stresses my graphics card much more than it needs to because of a lack of framerate limiting (Vsync), i get framerates in excess of 700 on minecraft, thats using almost nine times the throughput i need it to (my monitor runs at 85hz), using more power and making more heat than it need to,
also: anyone know how to get the game to Vsync or how to limit the framerate to around 60? never needs to go over 85 since the monitor cannot display that fast anyway
Chances are your driver software will allow you to enable Vsync for specific applications. I know for sure this works with NVidia.

Can't even begin to have this conversation without having a much more detailed view of what your computer is, what tasks are running and what version your drivers are.
9/10 when things are running slow it's because your computer is A.) full of spyware, or B.) suffering from "Windows has been installed for more then a year on this computer" syndrome.
A nuke from orbit is the only way to be sure. By nuke, I mean format the drive and start from scratch. (Get a computer literate friend to do this for you).

ah yeah, forgot about the nvidia drivers options, and yes it works, so does forcing AA and AS (somewhat)
What about enabling the framerate limiter in the game options?
[quote=Mister_Crowley]I used to get a good 200fps on this Epic-Monster of a laptop.
Something went wrong, what i will never know, but now I'm lucky to get 12fps.
definitely just save all the files you really want in some portable hard drive, and restore to factory settings or something. if you feel unsafe, bring it into some computer shop so they do it for you.
also try setting the render distance to normal or short.
yes i know minecraft is much better when you can see how awesome the world is but it works wonders if your trying to build something and you dont need to see that far for the time being.
I know it's been a month since last post, but I just got a brand new HP i5 dual core etc...
Just downloaded minecraft on here and it's averaging about 4-5 fps, sometimes dropping to 0.
I have distance at tiny, graphics as fast, priority at high... not sure what to do

Try Java 1.7.

i find that if minecraft crashes on high setting... there is a problem
