Hello, this is probably a really nooby question but I'm new to the game and especially to custom maps! I know SkyBlock's supposed to spawn in a snow biome, but I'm not spawning on the island at all when I open the map - rather what looks like a normal survival map. I've tried redownloading it a few times, but it's the exact same map every time. Anyone able to help?
Look up a youtube video thats what i did and it helped
do these count as cheating?:
1) leaving a server to wait until its not night (because i havent got a bed)
I think it's a bit cheesy, especially because you should pretty much never be in danger at night. All of the ingredients for torches are abundant so your block should be lit like a Christmas tree.
2) dying of hunger to refill hunger bar
How do you purposefully die of hunger? Jump 1,000 times? I don't think it's cheating to, if you know you're about to die of hunger, running back to your chest and tossing everything in (or at least getting somewhere where all your stuff will be safe when you drop it)
lolololol. My Skyblock world spawned as Ice Mountains biome, so my infinite springs kept freezing over. It got frustrating when I decided to make a mob spawner and it was freezing so I was forced to use an editor to change the biome. Does this invalidate my challenge attempt or should I just restart?

Neither of you seem to know how to keep water from freezing in a snow biome.
Hint: The answer is in the very first post of this thread, which you should read. It's actually the very first thing in the FAQ.
I have tried multiple times to join this skyblock server but It can't reach the server with the Ip address SkyBlock.net I am running minecraft on a Mac I don't think this should be an issue but it works with my brother and he is on the same Internet to me any help?
I DID IT! I FINALLY DID IT! I made a cake in Skyblock 2.1. This is with the new Minecraft Client, too, so getting animals for the cake was difficult. I had to kill literally thouasnds of zombies to get the 6 additional iron needed for the milk. Probably spent a few hundred hours...

Mate, you were stupid enough to steal them, you broke the rules, you should pay the price.
Minecraft is a sandbox game that you can do anything you really want. So why are you begging and asking us here?
Keeping to the philosophy of the Skyblock map though, it is starting with a minimal amount of initial resources with no direct access to "generated" resources (aka something in the ground or other such stuff). As a result, almost everything you need for building stuff must by definition be created from renewable resources (like cobblestone, wood, mob drops, etc.).
Anything that puts in a short cut to make it easier to obtain those renewable resources is sort of going against the philosophy of the map (like building out to the "mainland" or installing the "Too Many Items" mod). Otherwise go have fun! For myself, I think installing the extra hardcore mod or something that adds an additional challenge to the map is fine, as is installing mods that may add a new kind of block or item that can be manufactured from those renewable resources. I happen to like the Beer & Wine mod, for instance. It doesn't make playing the map any easier, but it is a fun diversion and allows you to make something else and expand your farm slightly with more things.

Did you know I write Science Fiction? Well I do. Check it out at http://planetretcon.com/books/

I see this now. I feel rather stupid for launching into this without reading the FAQ. I thought the snowy biome was a glitch.
Can I use mods like "Mob Dismemberment"? It's not cheating.
. I think I'm done.
