Hello! I don't know much about pixelmon, but I do love all of the pokemon games including Pokémon X and Y. Pixelmon seems like the type of thing for me, though I heard its a mod you need to download. Im not a fan of downloading, only because the computer I use isn't mine. I've downloaded stuff on here before like texture packs, and WinRAR, but I try to make sure the owner of the computer never notices. I know I need to download forge before I get pixelmon, but does getting pixelmon or forge cause the following to your computer:
- Slowness
- Virus
- lag on minecraft
- if someone downloaded this and another person came on the computer, would it be obvious someone downloaded pixelmon or forge on it?
- thanks guys, I really need help. Please look at this post and provide answers. thanks guys!
Can't tell you if Pixelmon would make Minecraft laggy as I've never tried it but, it seems like a popular mod and it wouldn't be so if it made anything (including your computer) lag.
You shouldn't receive viruses if you download everything from the correct website (FML from http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/, and mods from the semi-official mod-list site http://modlist.mcf.li/version/1.6.4/). You can also check certain files with online virus scanners, just google it and read each scanners' specific requirements.
If you download any files, they will most likely be located in your "Downloads" folder. Find your Minecraft game folder (search %appData on anything older than Windows 8, if you have Windows 8 you'll have to "un-hide" the AppData folder which is located in the computers' user profile folder, google), and create a folder called something inconspicuous like "Huehuehue" so that Minecraft doesn't accidentally try to access this when the game is running. Or at least just dont name the folder the same as any other folder xD. After creating this folder, drap and drop everything you download, Minecraft related (porn probably isn't a good idea here ), into this folder. Don't forget to install everything as it should be. There are plenty of Minecraft Modification Installation guides around the interwebz.

Thanks man but one of my questions weren't answered. Is it obvious that Pixelmon or forge was downloaded onto the computer or could it be kept a secret?
I installed pixelmon for my brother and also set him up with optifine (must have) and he has no lag. i was able to make it lag with 50 blocks of tnt but thats about it. during normal game play its 100% lag free. His laptop specs are as follows, AMD A6 (quad core), built in graphics, 4gb memory and i dont have the video setting low either so as long s you have a half decent computer you'll be fine. Regarding the virus thing, as long as you follow the links on here it will take you to the official pixelmon website and i scan all my files and it is virus free. its a very large and well known mod so i wouldn't worry.EDIT: I juat saw the part about "will it be obvious that its installed", if they know what they are looking for they will know. But they would need to go into the .minecraft folder to see. Unless they are playing minecraft ten no, it wont be obvious that its on the computer. If they are playing minecraft, then all they need to do is open it and they will see the mods installed and if they open a world it will come up asking them to select a pokemon. So in that case yes it will be very obvious.

Thanks for the answer, but nobody else but me plays minecraft. So then im safe? EDIT: Also do I NEED to have optifine? I heard I don't and it just helps the mod but if I don't need to I wont get optifine

Ok thanks bro. I will be downloading it soon but just to be sure these are the things I need?
- Forge
- Optifine (if it isn't needed please tell me cause Im not comfortable getting it)
Btw what do I do once I have all the requirements and downloaded the mod? Then what. Do I need to put it in my minecraft folder and that's it, or something like that?
My post may have been misleading, no, you dont need optifine. Its not related to pixelmon at all. I just recommend it since it can improve the fps and look of the game. But one you have pixelmon downloaded you just put it in your mods folder. That is after you install forge.
Im sorry everybody but I forgot my password to my curse account so I made an alt account. All further posts, please PM me them. If someone posts something here, I wont receive a notification. Thank you for all the responses
