Yeah. these mods i've seen on youtube are awesome. but whenever i download one,i have no idea how to get it to work, and i heard about a Mod Loader of which i never found without being some stupid hacked version.
If someone could give me the link on where to find it in the true, official version,i'd be very thankful.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I'm a definite Minecraft enthusiast. Mojang studios ROCK!!!
went there, but he's telling me to do stuff i don't even know how to do at all...deleting this and that. i extracted the minecraft.jar folder from the .bin folder or whatever it is,but now a whole alphabet of .CLASS folders appear, leaving me clueless on what i should do here. and there's no such thing as another .jar folder after i extract it. i don't understand it at all!!
Edit:I've just read the bottom part, and it's even worse...i don't get a slightest thing of this space age stuff!!
You open minecraft.jar with WinRAR (OPEN, not EXTRACT!), then you drag all files from modloader.zip into minecraft.jar. Now you delete META-INF folder. And modloader is installed.
Installation of mods is usually described in their main posts. Usually you just copy the mod into mods folder in .minecraft folder. If you don't know how to do what I just described, try to look up for videotutorials on installing modloader on youtube.

I have done everything of this properly and how you told me,but the download is broken. there is no modloader.txt folder included. where can i find it?? PLEASE...i've been trying NON-STOP and i keep getting the black screen and i'd love to play minecraft soon!!
ummm... first, I never mentioned modloader.txt. Second, txt would be text file, not folderDownload modloader. Open minecraft.jar with winRAR. Drag everything from modloader.zip into minecraft.jar. Delete META-INF folder, which is in minecraft.jar. Play the game.

Got the mod inserted, and the game runs, but the mod doesn't work for a token. what did i do wrong? i did what you told me and it still doesn't work...! i removed the META-INF folder btw.
where do i put the modloader? i need to know every step, everything i need to do,or else i'll flunk the whole thing entirely.
What mod are you trying to install? Most mods needs to be in the mods folder that is created after you run minecraft with modloader installed. The mods folder is located in ~.minecraft/mods/ on Linux and %appdata%\.minecraft\mods on Windows 7.
There's no mods folder here in my .minecraft folders,it doesn't exist.
Obsidian Ingot is the one i'm trying to install here
Been back and thru the %appdata%'s .minecraft. no luck here.
That mod requires the Forge ModLoader. Redownload Minecraft by starting the launcher, go to options, click "Force update" and login.
Then you need to install Minecraft Forge. Download it here:http://www.minecraft.../topic,5.0.html. Make sure you get the the recomended and not the latest. After that you should have a zip archive. Open it with WinRar and open the minecraft.jar file in the Minecraft bin folder. In minecraft.jar there should be a folder called "META-INF". For mods to work properly you need to delete this(If you don't you'll get a black screen when you start Minecraft). To deleate it you just click it and press deleate. After that you need to move the content of the Minecraft Forge zip archive th the minecraft jar file. Hold the CTRL key and press "A" in the zip file to select all files and drag them to the jar file. After it is done copying all the files you can close both windows and start Minecraft. If all went well it should say "Minecraft Forge 6.0.1.355" at the bottom-left corner. After that you can download any mod that is compatible with Forge and put it in the mods folder. If something went wrong you can redownload minecraft and try again.
If this is to complicated you can look for tutorials on YouTube or use a custom launcher.
I officially now know that i'm damned with the curse of the non-working game add-ons or mods. it sent me to an older version, and when i tried to do what you told me,i unzipped the modloader, and the forge and i sent all the components in Minecraft.jar, and it doesn't work for the crumble of a token. the forge version doesn't appear, nothing changes, nothing works. even after i deleted this META-INF data.
I swear to gosh that minecraft doesn't like me at all. either this,or i'm a total incompetent who keeps overshooting the way of doing it right... i'm guessing it's the latter. definitely.
and as you can see,i editted this post to make it a lot more legit sounding. nobody wants someone screaming over a game. anyone got an idea of a Youtube video that could tell dummies like me how to mod it? because after all the help i've got,i'm still not getting this right...and i'm tired. no rageing involved here, but darn,i'd be extreeemely thankful if modding pro's could give me a hand.

Ive had your same problem, Come to find out the Mod was a piece of . Try finding the same mod but somewhere else. That or you did what my little brother did and you messed up ur Winrar folders (my lil bro did this while trying to get texture packs to work. if you extract something into it when your not suppose to ull have to find out what you did and undo it or Completely uninstall everything and do it all over again this time correctly. Once you figure it out itll be easy from there on out. just look thru Youtube till you find a good vid could take you all day but if you want it that bad youll get it
Just go to http://www.minecraftdl.com/modloader/ theres a video there on how to get it working starting with downloading the ModLoader. Its really simple and easy, only take you 5 minutes unless you computer is junk..in that case no mod will work or texture packs...welll they will youll just lag yourself to death.. lol
but now a whole alphabet of .CLASS folders appear, leaving me clueless on what i should do here. and there's no such thing as another .jar folder after i extract it. i don't understand it at all!!

i'm new to mods too, but i do know that you should just ignore the class files. they have nothing to do with mods
