Do mods do any damage to computers? My computer isn't so powerful. My parents say that they can fudge up our computer. Also, is MCPatcher safe? Will that mess up our laptop?
My computer isn't that powerful either, I've installed a few mods and it's working fine. I wouldn't recommend any shader mods, though. MCPatcher is completely safe, though I'd recommend getting Optifine instead as it has similar capabilities to MCPatcher and can also give you more options for reducing lag.
Mods don't do anything bad unless the author is shady. If they just post a download link and say something the mod does without pictures or any real description, try to avoid it.

Mods are dangerous, only play vanilla, always. It's safer that way. If you happen to download a mod, the creator will know where your location is and kill you a few days after. Happend with my brother. Good luck not downloading mods.

well mods are fine... I think optifine is much better and there are many shady mods and creators that will steal our money it happened to my friend once...... Its dangerous to download one..... But some mods are good but you never know

Well, you tried to help a Topic that's 2 years old.
technic launcher is one of the best ways to enjoy downloading mods easily without worry about messing things up. also because it comes with multiple profiles you can go from vanilla minecraft to whatever mods you want to use very easily (really just a click of a button)
Edit: just realised this was a revived thread. noone probably cares about it anymore
Mods with at least two or three pages on this forum are pretty much guaranteed safe.
They won't mess it up unless you install something extremely crazy.
