You obviously missed my reply to that piece of advice
Allocating more ram does almost nothing to your framerate, the only time you really need to allocate more is if you're using textures in the x256 - x512 size range
How low is your fps that you think there might be a problem?
You understand the reasons why you'll never get the same sort of framerate as you do in other games right?
Yes, I understand the limitations of Java, being a 12 year veteran of the old game RuneScape. To be honest, there is something that I have to say. I have no idea why I even replied to that comment a few minutes ago. The post was unwarranted, because I am not even any longer having the issues I was before.
Everything is in the green for me. I'm pretty familiar with how RAM allocation works in Minecraft by now. I use a x128 texture pack (Sphax), and allocating a mountain of RAM results in very little if any performance increase. Actually, I have found that if I allocate more than 4,096mb of RAM to Minecraft, my performance actually drops somewhat. 4GB seems to be the sweet spot for me.
To modify the 1.5.1 preview to work with 1.5.2 without bump or specular mapping would be fairly straightforward, but to overcome the problems that were introduced with the new system in 1.5 takes more work.
The biggest problem is having to join multiple images for the same texture, and then joining normal and specular maps as well with the same texture coordinate.
Once this problem is solved a full version will be released for whatever is the current Minecraft version, not for 1.5.2, as the same texture system will still be in use.
Well actually, what's about with removing bump or specular mapping completly for now and focus on updating and bug fixing and after that - somewhen in 1.6 we can think about adding bump or specular mapping back in. Would make everything a lot easier.
I'm new to the whole mods thing. I use Magic Launcher because it makes using and installing Mods so much easier, as it gets frustrating to do so with out the use of ML.
Now I would love to play Minecraft with the shaders and watershaders, but, for the life of me, cannot figure out what to download. I have gone through multiple threads on the subject and because of that, I have thoroughly confused myself...LOL.
Stumbled on this thread just as 1.5.2 came out. read what you said about how you can use this with optifine...but things aren't working.
Can you guys help me out please and put a list of the 3-4 things i need to download to get the shader working with Magic Launcher...I know this is very noobish and this question has been answered. But with the new patch, for me, had made things difficult to work out on which to download.
So again, please help and I know having to answer this question over and over can get annoying, but with new patches/updates old suggestions no longer work.

any and all advice will be appreciated
and thank you.
At the moment, the only version of the shader mod available for 1.5 is a buggy pre-release. Considering that you are new to modding, you may want to wait until the mod is finished and released. Also, have a look at MultiMC. I find it to be much more powerful and much easier to use than Magic Launcher.
Guess ill just keep checking back every couple of days.
Guys, when shaders are availble to work for 1.5.2 should I check back to Karyonix's thread here? will he post the update in the next few pages or will it be posted on the first page? because I saw he posted 1 of the updates on page 68...thanks Eskimo for that
and if and when he does...will that be all I need to download?
yeah cos, Eskimo in that file link yo usent it has Seue's RC7 1.5.1...guess ill follow his thread...but from what ive read I dont just use the Sues RC7 by itself
Have you got a link to the mod you're using? If I search for Random Mod it brings up all sorts of things
I'm fairly sure the Random Mob Textures is a part of Optifine and works with the texture pack to provide random skins to each mob. Works really well with the Sphax PureBDCraft texture pack.
1.5.2 is basically a bug-fix of 1.5.1 so another preview should theoretically be fairly straightforward.
Actually finishing the mod to include normal and specular mapping is the hard part.
it's a whole new system so it's like trying to invent the first jet engine, hard to get it to work, but as soon as you do, future improvements are much easier.
Btw I'm drunk and it took me almost an hour to write this.

I have half my RAM allocated to Minecraft - 8,196mb.

This mod is much more complicated than Water Shaders because it works on everything in the game, not just water.

Ramzi3D,
Now that you foolishly said it on an English speaking forum you have to deal with this Borat thing yourself.
Want some help?)
