So instead of /cam p1 i would do /cam target for each? I've been trying everything with target and i couldn't get it working.
Actually, you can only set one target, in your case, put yourself where you want to look and use /cam target
When you'll start the camera (/cam start) you'll automatically look at the target you set with a smooth camera.
Just a little warning : Do it in fullscreen or put your Taskbar on top, because the cursor will go on the bottom left.

I think i get what you're saying now.
There should be a command that allows you to have a target for each point. Sometimes you don't want to look at single point for the whole path.
Example: i look down and /cam p1 and for p2 i'm looking to my right and set /cam p2. when i start the path it should start with me looking down and slowly transition up and to the right in a fluid motion. Would make things a lot easiler.
The feature you describe is not implemented, even if I already thought about it.
As Shoukaseikyo said, the only way to control the orientation of the camera is whether to look at one static point (/cam target), or to move it manually with your mouse (which is not really an option if you want real smooth camera shot).
I totally agree this is pretty poor for the moment, regarding to the control you have over the camera path, and this will be the next step development for enhancing this mod (to give a better control over orientation). Unfortunately, I can't tell when this will be released, so I can only advise for the moment to make multiple shots and to be imaginative for reassembling them together.. sorry I can't help more.
Ever wanted to have a smooth camera movement all-together with your accelerated video ?
Then this mod is made for you !
This mod has been specifically designed for timelapse video makers.
It gives the opportunity to make great camera motions at a very tiny speed movement, adding an unreached quality so far to your accelerated videos. However, it can be used by anyone who wants to make a video with smooth camera movements, as the speed can be whatever you want.
You simply type commands to define the path you want to follow, optionally set a point to look at, then start the motion with another command providing a duration for the whole move.
To see it into action, look at the following videos, and notice the smooth camera movements :
Exactly the same as all other mods : simply add the class files and subdirectories (as is) provided in this archive to your minecraft.jar file, and delete the [META-INF] folder from it.
COMPATIBILITY
compatible with nearly all mods (Zombe, SPC, TMI, Optifine, Rei Minimap ...)
not compatible with any mod affecting wm.class (or gx.class for Minecraft 1.0), which should be very few mods.
So far, I only found Improved Chat not being compatible with.
If you find any compatibility issue, please report it in this thread.
CONFIGURATION FILE
Some options can be tuned through the configuration file.
This file is called config.properties, and is generated on first launch in the .minecraft/mods/camerastudio/ directory.
(for the 1.0 version, this directory is called .minecraft/mods/travelling/)
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
This mod can be used on a server and in single-player mode, in which case you must have some way to access the chat console (with Single Player Commands, for instance).
All the computations are made client side, and no command is issued to the server (no tp or equivalent). To move the player, this mod only tells the client (or the server) what the next player position should be.
It won't breaks the physics of the game, e.g. you won't be able to travel trough blocks, and you won't be able to fly if you're not already in fly mode (with creative fly mode, or with excellent Zombe fly mode for instance).
So be aware of the the following :
- if a block lies between you and the next supposed move during a traveling, you will get blocked. If this happens, simply stop the traveling with the appropriate command (see below).
- if you travel too fast and go inside blocks during a traveling on a server, you will get kicked, as the server doesn't allows such moves. If this happens, simply reconnect to the server without quitting the game (all the registered points and trajectory will be still in memory, and can be reused without issuing the commands again)
HOW TO USE IT
First, you must register positions.
To do so, move to a desired location, and type /cam p[number] (can be p1, p2, p1000 - whatever)
It will save into memory the current location as the given named point.
You can define your points in any order - the number is just there as an identifier.
Examples :
/cam p1
/cam p2
...
Optionally (but recommended), you can register a position as a target to look at during the whole movement.
This is achieved through the command /cam target, which will register the current location as the target.
If you want to turn off this feature, type /cam undo target
Note : when a target is used, the mouse input will be locked once the traveling starts, in order not to disturb the traveling.
The mouse will get unlocked once the traveling ends, or if the traveling is manually stopped with the appropriate command (see below)
Secondly, you must register a trajectory.
There are 3 kinds of trajectories :
- linear from one point to another,
/cam p<num1> l p<num2>
For instance, lets say you registered two points : p1 and p2 /cam p1 l p2 will register a move from p1 to p2 in a straight direction.
- circular around one point,
/cam p<num1> cr|cl p<num2> [h<positive or negative value>] [<float value>]
Explained :
use cr to turn to the right,
use cl to turn to the left,
optional float value is the number of turns to achieve (default 1),
optional h followed by positive or negative value raises or lowers the camera during move, in order to describe an helix movement (value is an height in cubes)
Note :
The point before cr or cl is the starting point for this move. The camera will keep this points elevation, whatever the center of the circle elevation is.
Examples :
(these assume you have defined two valid points p1 and p2)
/cam p1 cr p2 ; turn from p1 around p2 to the right exactly one time,
/cam p1 cl p2 0.5 ; turn from p1 around p2 to the left exactly one half time,
/cam p1 cl p2 h40 ; turn from p1 around p2 to the left exactly one time, and raise the camera for 40 cubes
/cam p1 cl p2 5 h-50 ; you can mix all options together..
- curvilinear (spline) along a list of points.
/cam p<num1> sp p<num2> p<num3> [p<num4>...]
Note :
This move will describe a smooth curve going through each given points at constant speed.
Example : /cam p1 sp p2 p5 p3 p6 ; starting from p1, go to p2, then p5, then p3, then p6
Lastly, start the traveling.
/cam start [<value>s|m|h]
Explained :
With no arguments, /cam start will trigger the traveling with a default 5 seconds duration, or with the last duration shipped to the start command.
Time argument can be expressed in seconds, minutes, or hours.
Examples :
/cam start 20s ; do the traveling in 20 seconds
/cam start 20m ; do the traveling in 20 minutes
/cam start 2h ; do the traveling in 2 hours
To stop the traveling before its end, type /cam stop
The first goal of this mode being to film timelapses, it was important to tell the other builders when the traveling ends.
That's why once a traveling ends, a nice chat message "Traveling ended !" is sent to everybody in game. This feature can be turned off through the configuration file by setting the endChatTravellingMsg value to false.
With the same idea, periodic messages are sent in order to tell what time is left for the current traveling. These messages are sent every 20 minutes, then every 10 minutes, then every 2 minutes. Each of these values can be configured along with the longPeriodMinutes, shortPeriodMinutes, and veryShortPeriodMinutes entries of the configuration file. This feature can be totally turned off by setting periodicChatTravellingMsg to false.
Additional handy commands are :
/cam
Shows the cam command summary of the parameters issued so far.
/cam goto p<num>
As there is no visual way to see the registered points, this allows you to quick go to the given point. Keep in mind that if some block lies between you and the desired position, you will be blocked or kicked from the server.
/cam clear
Resets the command with default values (erases all points or trajectory)
Last but not least, along with the Cam command comes another very handy command, called Elastic Time.
This command gives you a fine control over the night and day cycle length.
It doesn't affect the real time on a server - it's all processed client-side.
Here is how to use it :
/et
Gives a summary of this command.
By default, night and day are configured to last 5 seconds each.
/et <value>s|m|h [<value>s|m|h]
Configures the length of each cycle.
If it comes with one argument, the given duration is evenly split for night and day.
If it comes with two arguments, the first value is the day length, and the second is the night length.
Examples : /et 5m ; day and night will last 2 and half minutes each /et 30m 20m ; day lasts 30 minutes, and night 20 minutes.
/et on
starts the command
Note :
If you put tiny values (say under a minute), and play on a server, you will probably experience annoying sun and moon jumps, as the time is frequently readjusted by the server, and remains the master clock.
/et off
stops the command, restoring the default time control.
Please enjoy, and don't hesitate to share your creations with me.
Feedback and suggestions to make it better are highly appreciated.
Thank you.

I may have missed this, but is it SMP compatible, do i need ods for the server, do other people need the mod, and where does it save to?!?
Didn't get much of a chance to use this mod for this video, but the first 2 clips were capped with this mod.
I'll have better angles when I mess around with the mod more.

It is fully SMP compatible, and other people don't need the mod.
It saves nothing on disk, except the configuration file on your local machine.
If you want to shot a video, you'll need some external software like Fraps.
Is there a way to turn off the "Travelling Ended!" without needing to edit some config, like a command or something? I have no idea how to change it and other players don't really like getting the message.
By the way great mod, going to use it a lot :smile.gif:

No, the only way to turn it off is to edit the configuration file.
But that's pretty simple :wink.gif:
Why do you need a command to do that ?
nice but do I have to use the singleplayer commands?because i would like to use it because it conflicts with my other mods so is it possible to make the "singleplayer commands" to your mod?like just the features needed to this mod
You don't have to use Single Player Commands at all to use my mod. It's fully functional in multi-player mode, and I only suggested to use SPC in single player mode because it gives access to the chat console.
And if I do give access to the chat console in my mod, I'll probably go into conflict with SPC or other mods, which I absolutely don't want.
Maybe there's another solution ...
What is the conflicting mod you're using ?

Upcoming features are simpler commands to define a path, and enhanced targeting abilities.
If you have some feature request, you can post right here, or send me a pm :wink.gif:
