Had some fun while making it . I don't mind working on updates because I like making mods for my personal enjoyment. If the newer MCP did not refuse to work on my laptop I'd have finished earlier though. Here is the work-in-progress version for minecraft 1.4.4. Please be aware that this is still a work in progress and cannot guarantee that it's bug-free.
Please don't forget to read the installation instruction because some extra steps are required. Be aware that this mod isn't compatible with smartmoving and other mods involving player model because this mod edits a base class file. Also, please make a copy of your saves and minecraft.jar file in case Minecraft refuses to start due to problems with mod installation. Should they occur, I'm not responsible for damages done to your computer, copy of minecraft, and/or game saves.
Installation.
- Download the zip file "kes5219_improvedfirstperson1.4.4B1.zip" from link below
- If you haven't done so already, back up your minecraft.jar and game saves
- If it's not installed yet, Install Minecraft forge for version 1.4.4 (link). Be sure to delete the META-INF folder in minecraft.jar before installing Minecraft forge. Please be aware that Minecraft forge isn't compatible with Modloader.
- Put "ImprovedFirstPerson1.4.4B1.jar" file into "coremods" folder located in minecraft folder. If there isn't "coremods" folder, log on to minecraft, wait for it to load main screen, and close the window. If Minecraft forge was correctly installed, it should automatically generate "coremods" folder.
- Lastly, put "awp.class" file directly into the minecraft.jar file.

There is a bug where you put your head in a torch. You can only look around the x axis. Also just an idea.... Track ir support?
I'll see about the bug with torch. And sorry but Track IR support won't be done anytime soon because it isn't worth the effort.
EDIT:
and I don't own one to test while developing this mod either. It would be nice to have it for some other games I play though. Also, can you explain more about the problem with being able to only look around the x axis?
Bugs I found with the dev-build:
1. Arms are held too far behind the body while sneaking (animation)
2. If a arrow is stuck in your body, the lighting on you is wrong
3. The problem from the guy above: Make it so, that this is only in front of solid blocks
4. When switching to 3rd person and moving, the camera tilts way too much (test and you'll see)
Edit:
5. Sleep and don't see the bug
Edit2:
6. In 1st person view heads of other players are invisible
7. In 1st person view wearing a skull is glitchy (test it and see what i mean)
Edit3:
Expansion to 7: Does also happen with a block on the head
Oh man those are some hilarious bugs. I see where some of the bugs are coming from. I'm currently away from my main computer now so I'll try to fix the bugs when I arrive at home. By the way, what did you mean by "5. Sleep and don't see the bug"?
EDIT:
I'm guessing it's the bug with player's head showing up while sleeping. Just fixed it now and will be included in next release. Thanks for finding it.
How do i remove the old first person arm off without deleting optifine ? Its soo annoying!
Sorry but for this version, it isn't possible without deleting or disabling optifine. Please remember that this version wasn't made with mod compatibility in mind. It will be fixed in the next release though.
OMG!! Help! I use magic launcher to install mods because no matter how hard I try it's IMPOSSIBLE for me to install them myself. I put on the improved first person mod, no problem. I installed Render Player API, it worked. I clicked test and the mod didn't work so I was like "Okay maybe I need Forge" So I installed forge, put it onto magic launcher but it was incompatible someone help me this mod is probably my favourite mod I've ever seen and I can't install it!!!
Can you make it so you can look up and down when your climbing a ladder. If this isn't a bug Also when ever i walk through sugar canes or a torch it resets my camera to facing downwards

Thanks for telling me about it. I totally overlooked that problem. The fix for ladder climbing will be included along with the fix for problems with sugar cane and torch in next release.

To my knowledge, Forge does not work well with Magic Launcher. Sorry but you'll have to install mods manually. I know there are some drawbacks like this while making with Minecraft forge but the benefits outweighed the drawbacks for me, which is the reason I decided to use Minecraft Forge.
Ok i removed optifine but now i can see my head from the inside, what can i do?
Damn..I see where I did wrong. I'm sorry but can you wait until the next version is released? I think I forgot to include part of a code that prevents player's head from showing up while in first person.
not true magiclauncher work well with minecraft forge never had any problems and why would it cause problems its just a launcher doesnt affect the minecraft.jar and there for forge at all
hmm..I think I have been wrong about using Minecraft forge with launchers then. Thanks for correcting me.
Also, for Redzos, can you try configuring it so that Minecraft Forge goes to the first in the mods list?
I just found an alternative for a track ir. Its something called free track, only requires a webcam, PlayStation Eye, or even a wiimote. You have to build your own point model rig tho. but its still cheaper than Track ir. (oh yea and you cant look up or down while going through vines and the insides of a door. I Think its because The mod thinks its a solid block.)

Using latest optifine aswell.
Optifine will definitely be compatible with this mod when I officially release this mod for 1.4.4. I cannot guarantee the same for Modloader though.
Sorry but no releases for 1.4.2. I wasn't working on this mod for a long time until right before the 1.4.4 update.

All right. Thanks for informing me.

Put the file next to the .jar in the Improved first person view zip into the Minecraft.jar.

Well this mod is made for 1.2.5. You were on 1.4.4.
(unless you used that unofficial one he mentioned. I didn't see that at first I responded to this first)
If you want me to respond to you, reply to me with the "Quote" button under my post.
