Hey when do you think you will have the first version of the dragon mod finished? You could just release a beta and we can let you know of any bugs/weird stuff.

I can't say for certain, because I can only work on this stuff when I feel like it and my health isn't perfect. Most days I get to work on it some, so barring major bugs it should be beta-ready within a few days. I'm still working out some issues with the model, and the variation code is barely started. If you're that anxious, I can probably get an alpha version out fairly soon for y'all to play with though. :biggrin.gif: The really important stuff (taming and riding!) is already there after all. Seeing messages about it actually helps, it tells me someone's interested. :biggrin.gif:

:ohmy.gif: im interested! the dragons in the other dragons mod aren't that great, yours are :biggrin.gif:
and i really loled at the dragoats.. (goats with the flying properties of a dragon XD)

Alright well hey if you need an alpha tester for the mod I would more than willing to help out.
That is, unless you are going to just make a public alpha. I'm not really much of a modder, just tester lol. But do whatever seems right to you.

So how is the progress going with the dragons ATM?
I had a rough week, health wise. I haven't felt good enough to work with code, so I haven't done much. I haven't forgotten about it though. :smile.gif:
For the record, when 1.8 comes out, I'll probably be able to update my mods pretty quickly once the matching MCP is available. My mods don't take much from the base classes and I don't think the mob super classes are going to change drastically.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better/hope you get better soon. Yeah lol I've bookmarked this page and check it every few hours but I think it'd be best to wait for 1.8 cause its almost here. Good luck with this! It's awesome to have another dragon mod to add to my slowly growing collection lol (of like 2 dragon mods lmao) but yeah it is looking good.
You're just a typical minecraftian, doing the minecraft thing and exploring a cave. It's a routine exploration until you hear a loud rumbling. You take a look and you know what you see? A giant lair, with one gigantic, mean looking dragon. But it doesn't attack, and you know why? It's asleep. You've just encountered a sleepy dragon, so what can you do with it? Many things.
ATTACKING: If you simply opt to ATTACK the thing, you'll certainly wake it up. You'll also **** it off. It'll either roast you with it's fire, or simply eat you.
ATTACKING V2 FEATURING BRIBERY: So you've learned your lesson, have you? Apparently not, because you've just attacked it again, you idiot! But you're in luck, because this dragon loves GOLD. If you throw some GOLD INGOTS at him, he'll become your unstable ally. And by unstable I mean he'll attack you at random times.
SWEET DREAMS(OR NOT): Luckily for you, there are other methods for awakening this beast. If you set up a MUSIC BOX and insert a GOLDEN DISC, you'll wake him up, alright. But you'll also scare him, prompting him to flee. But he's in a cave, how does he flee? By bursting right through the top of his lair and flying off into the sky.
SWEET DREAMS: That creepy golden disc wasn't the best idea, was it? Good news, you can use a GREEN DISC, too!
Simply setting the MUSIC BOX down near the dragon's head and inserting it will do the job. After awhile he'll begin to wake up, finally sitting up and letting out a powerful yawn. Congratulations, you now have a fierce and loyal buddy!
Some things details.
CAVE EXIT: Since the dragon is massive and spawns in what amounts to a giant cave, he'll always need to bust out through the TOP. All blocks destroyed this way would fall to the ground as items that you could pick up. When he exits, he'll stay in the air until he sees you again, in which case he'd land near you.
LAIR: This is where he spawns, think of a gigantic hollowed out "dome" of stone, with him in the middle.
SNORING: You'd hear this when you get close to him. It'd be loud and maybe shake the ground a bit.
COMMANDS: You'd issue him commands by crafting a BLOW HORN(Made from string and the horn of a bull). Right clicking the horn on him would set it as his HORN, you can't use that particular horn to command other dragons. When you right click the horn in the air, you'd see a small message saying what order you just gave. You can cycle through the commands via left clicking the horn.
But you don't want to have to cycle through multiple horns, right? Well, I don't, so here's an idea!
GRAND HORN: This is made by crafting three BLOW HORNS together diagonally. It works mostly the same way, except for one thing. Since this is such a massive horn, you'll need to place it before you use it. Issuing commands on this would affect all nearby tamed dragons.

This was seriously the oddest yet most awesome idea I have heard for a dragon mod. But it seems pretty damn complex don't you think?
I'm planning on making a big goat farm...please update the mod or just release the up to date version of the goats.
the mod will be updated if she feels like updating it and dude dont bother with the goat farm the fix she tryd to do still dosnt allow the goats to give milk :sad.gif: so no point in a farm until she fixes it also dude you should check when the last reply was befor you post ok
They do give milk, but it's the same as the cows: You won't get milk 100% of the time. Sometimes you have to wait a while before trying.
As for updating, I did get the goat mob itself to work with 1.8, but they don't spawn in chunks you've already been to. No mobs spawn in existing chunks actually, the reason it's not that obvious is because animal despawning is disabled in the code. I never figured out how to get mobs spawning again, so I've been waiting for the next update to fix it.
I can post the current code, but you'll have to make a new world, use one that already has goats in it, spawn them in yourself, or travel a whole lot to actually see them. I really don't want people getting mad at me for something I can't fix.
EDIT: Updated the first post with a download link for the 1.8 version. Don't say I didn't warn you about the spawn bug, though.
Couldn't you add werewolves that spawn at night and kill your Goats if they aren't indoors or not protected in a double fence area (make werewolves jump 2 blocks up)?
They would:
- drop bonemeal [1] and coco beans [0-2] on death (their fur coat if very messy, you know...)
- jump 2 blocks high [as mentioned]
- be hostile (aiming for goats more than you)
- turn into a "monster" at a light of 15 (which is basically that human mob that does 1 damage and chases you)
- have a monster's health
- possibly secretly contain a weakness to gold tools in which makes them burn?
- do half a heart more damage then zombies
- be as fast as a spider.

That's pretty much the same as the werewolf in Mo' Creatures, except that one does even more than that. Besides, a transforming mob is beyond my ability right now.
Unrelated, but for the record I hope to learn from the weird fire monster thing in 1.9, to enable my dragon to breathe fire. :wink.gif: I have the pre-release jar but obfuscated code is too difficult for me to use, so I'll have to wait for the real release and MCP for that.
