and the ability to go with 2claysoldiers on a horse? makes them twice as strong as normal :smile.gif:
maybe better throwing items? such as arrows? MINI arrows actually xD

There are too many idiots in the forums, it makes me sad. :sad.gif: Well, I thought of two new mounts you could use: turtles and dragons.
Turtles and dragons are very opposite, one is slow and can swim in water, the other flies at high speeds and can breath fire.
Big turtles made of mossy cobblestone move half the speed of a clay soldier, float on water and walk on land, they crush any soldier that attemt to ride them. Only Ironcore and supersoldiers are capable of getting on, but then they get a turtle tank with 100 health so it's worth it!
Dragons made of netherrack move twice the speed of those lame pegesi and fly high in the air! I was dissapointed when I discovered pegusi couldn't fly over two blocks above the ground, so I want dragons to go as high as they want but be unable to fly over fences so they can still be contained. Dragons would be dangerous and attack those who attampt to ride it just like turtles. Dragons would shoot small fireballs at enemiies and slash them if they're close enough, the fire would last ten seconds and do three damage each second, but also give them a slight defence boost because they're hardening. The dragon's health would be 60.
use flags to mark territory, let them make mini empires, when u give them flags or something like it. and if there are empires, they randomly charge attack other lands, and try to conquer them.
Reproducing
If you give clayman wood stacks they make fortresses and they will mark territory, BUT if you give them brick stacks (or any other building material) they will make houses that will over time reproduce.
Farms
a food source for the clayman. Give a clayman some seeds and he will become a farmer. thus creating farmlan and distributing food.
Borders
One of the big problems with clayman is confining them in certain areas. lets fix that by placin a wool line in dirt. Maybe make borders for every clay colour, like red borders that only red can´t pass, or only red can pass.
Factories
My goal of these ideas is to make them independent (only when added flags). You can give them pistons and iron block for example, and they make stcik/leather/etc.. factories.
Palace
The residence of the king, kill the king and the territory will automatticlay convert (along with all units in them) to the killers colour. made by diamond blocks.
Commander
Since when do Kings go to battle? when the king is away, there will be no one to protect and manage the empire. thats where commanders come in. give clayman some lapiz dust, and they will become a commander, they will lead attacks on the enemy, the more commanders and units available, the more attacks. maybe put a limit on commanders
with these additions you can make the slogan of "..strong enough to rule the land!" true, by giving them self-controlled empires.

Sorry dude, but as cool as these ideas are they're just too complicated. Minecraft isn't an RTS, and it doesn't support that kind of advanced unit and group based AI. Pathfinding barely works over short distances, so how would I possibly make it work over a large area? What if the only way to get to an enemy nation is through a giant maze? How do I make units stay in a group without them getting in each other's way? What do I do if they come to a narrow bridge and have to walk single-file? There's just an overwhelming amount of problems that keep me from doing these things, and if you were in my position, you would understand. The intelligence required to make these large-scale desicions requires a finite amount of variables in order to be calculated by an artificial AI, and Minecraft has way too many things going on in its infinitely-sized world. If all the terrain in the game were perfectly flat with only a few mountains or obstacles, THEN it might be possible. But the world at its current state is no place for all the things you just described. The clay soldiers were never meant to be independent creatures.
If only they could see over half blocks. They don't walk over full sized blocks if they stand on half steps, which is nice, but if they could shoot rocks over the full blocks while standing on a half step... Well that would make castle walls actually have a purpose for Clay Soldiers! Hopefully that makes sense.
Well I have some ideas, and I know most of these will be possible as I myself am a modder, not nearly as good as people like you, but I still know quite a bit about how Minecraft works.
Rafts
Acts like a feather, but for water transportation. Maybe drop a piece of paper or when 1.9 comes out, a lillypad. The goal of a raft would be to let the soldiers cross water safely without itemizing.
Grappling Hooks
If you toss them a string, they have a grappling hook which will allow them to climb surfaces up to 2 or 3 blocks tall.
Slow Powder
If you toss them a snowball, it can be used like redstone, but with a slowing effect rather than a blinding one.
Heavy Throwing Weapon
If you toss them a brick, they can throw it like gravel. The bricks do twice as much damage, but have half the range. The soldier can only have bricks or gravel, not both at one time.
More Building Blocks
You can give the soldiers cobblestone, stone bricks, or bricks and they can build their buildings out of those materials as well as planks.

Yeah, and I haven't been successful in trying to fix it myself. It appears that the glowing parts of certain bodies (eyes of spiders and endermen) are using additive alpha blending now. While this may be okay for just small things like eyes - it makes the body of a clay soldier look partially see-through and weird. So they kind of look like ghosts, and I don't really know how to fix that. If you think it's cool though, you can try it out. I'll add a link for it. Just drag it into your jar like you would normally do with any other mod.
PAPER PLANES FOR THE CLAY SOLDIERS!
You give them some paper and they can fly about for a limited time, when the time is up the plane crashes to the ground. if the clay soldier has a feather parachute though, he simply ejects out of the plane. I think the clay soldiers need more places to battle in, e.g water, air, nether.
Not sure why nobody else has thought of this put pressure plates down in a claysoldier house so that its like the factory building then the pressure plates lead to quarries from buildcraft 1.8.1.1 then have the pipes go to an equivalent exchange alchemical chest with a furnace cooking the ores then have that lead to a chest in a claysoldier fort and vwalaa you have a claysoldier operated factory post link to a video soon.See Koda does not need to make self supportive claysoldiers we just need to use our brain.
