Can anyone help me? I am trying to use it on 1.6.2 and i installed manually and followed the instructions correctly, but there's no release 1.6.2_OptiFine on the launcher ( Edit Profile > Use Version: )
ChickenBones' mods such as EnderStorage, ForgeMultipart and anything else using ChickenBones' render library are incompatible with Optifine because Optifine removes the lastBrightness(X/Y) fields from the OpenGLHelper class. These fields are added by forge for mods to correctly light their objects in certain situations. Vanilla does not use this, but if optifine wishes to be Forge compatible, it should not be removing them.
What do you mean? I use 11 Mods together quite well. I use: OptiFine, the 3 Forge Mod things, Code ChickenCore, NEI, Rei's Minimap, In-Game NBT Edit, Inventory Tweaks, MAtmos, Presence Footsteps, and TerrainControl all together without crashes.
Quite a bit of people (including myself) are having trouble using Enderstorage and NEI along with Optifine. The reason why they are incompatible is due to Optifine "not playing nice" with Forge.
I have noticed that the incompatibility is mostly with WRE-CBE, Enderstorage, Forge Multipart, NEI, and Project Red. Mainly any mod that uses Forge Multipart (a.k.a. microblocks) will cause the game to crash because of an issue with Optifine. If the Multipart mods are removed, Optifine and other ChickenBones mods play nice (except Enderstorage). That's what I have experienced.

That may be true, but im sure everyone will want to not play w/out some or all those mods. So it would be nice if they could come with a patch for multipart or Optifine.
Yes its called "7z" (w/out the quotes.) for me its a LOT easier to use/get around in.

It wouldn't be a "Patch" You just have to figure out how to install it correctly. What I did was, I just installed OptiFine's files into the Forge.jar. They don't want us to do that anymore for some reasons, but it seems like the best solution for the mods to work correctly.

I wholeheartedly agree. Optifine is without a doubt one of those things that should be integrated into Minecraft anyway. I am trying to wait patiently for the guys @Optifine and Forge Multipart to work together to fix this issue.

Mojang probably has some sort of reasoning behind why they are not adding it in. But it is what it is, and hopefully in the future it will be added in. I too am waiting as patiently as I can for this to get fixed.
My only complaint is the download site. I get spammed with a ton of ads (some of which are inappropriate) and then when I click download, another window and another tab opens. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! The tab that opened was a download link... WITH A VIRUS. It was one of the amazonaws-type links which instantly downloads. I had to spend 2 days trying to figure out how to get that thing off my computer.
I've briefly read the log, and I think it might be Modloader. I only use Forge, and I've heard people having a lot of problems. I would really recommend Forge, it's like a bigger and more stable version of Modloader.
I had ModLoader installed when I copied that log, but I uninstalled it shortly after. At the moment the only mod I have installed is Optifine, and I still get the same crash.
Edit: Seems like the mods folder from ModLoader was still in my version folder, and deleting it seems to have fixed my issue.
Probably an outdated mod. Just a quick suggestion, put this in front of the mod name: [versionname] modname
Example:
[1.6.2] Damage Indicators v2.8.0.0
Very handy to keep your mods organised
I wasn't even using the mods, ModLoader was uninstalled, they were just in the mods folder. Also it hasn't stopped the crashes, they just don't occur as often any more.

OptiFine is not installed last, some other mod is overwriting the OptiFine classes.
I did some reading on the Forge forums, and found out the thrilling news that Optifine does not *need* to be a jar mod, it's just that way because the dev hasn't changed (or won't change) it. I don't like jar mods. I don't like doing brain surgery on my jar to install a mod, because I'm trusting myself and J. Random Modder not to screw up and break Minecraft. I tolerate Forge because it has to be a jar mod by its very nature and it makes it possible for all the other mods to NOT be jar mods and it has a well-known developer with forums and support.
Optifine gives instructions for installing with Forge build 789. They don't mention that it is compatible with ONLY that version, and not necessarily any other versions going forward--I had to find that out in the comments buried deep in the NEI thread. They tell you to use MagicLauncher, which I have found does not work properly with a lot of 1.6.2 mods. Yeah, not helpful.
I have removed Optifine from my system because I have decided on a "no jar mods" policy. Oddly enough, my framerate has *increased* since then. Unfortunately, that means no rando-mobs and other goodies from HD resource packs. It would be really nice for Optifine to be a Forge mod. It really would.
Is there ANY ways to remove that BAD HUGE lag i get when i use/close up to enchanted items, or armor? Specifically when i play shotbow annihlation, i cant kill anyone with enchanted gear because if i get close, my fps goes from 60 to about 3....
(Im using your mod, tried turning off items animated, didnt help, any suggestions?)
Well that makes sense to me, thanks for the info.

Will there ever be support for fancy fog on ATI video cards?
I really hate the way how the normal/fast (line) one looks, as if the fog shifts when you rotate your view.

Neither of those are going to work with Optifine until sp614x updates it to be more compatible with Forge.
