I'm guessing you either a.) are using an old/low-end computer or b.) have messed with the Java memory allocation on your computer. Either way, Minecraft with mods needs more memory to run than vanilla. There's tons of tutorials out on the Internet about how to increase the amount of memory Java can use for Minecraft. Find one that works for you.
EDIT: Since FTB is a modpack that has been facing a lot of questions about this issue lately, I'd check the FTB forums for help first.
I'm having an issue with connected textures mod. I know this is all through this thread, but nothing had a real answer unique to my problem.
CTM works great with the default textures:
Doesn't work with 3rd party textures (that have CTM support):
This is one example, I have 4 texture packs with supposed CTM support and none of them "connect"
Packs are Faithfulvenom x64, Ozocraft, Alice, Noacraft and Dustycraft.
I'll bookmark and hope some answers crop up. thanks.
P.S. CTM set to "fancy" in settings. Just in case someone wants to assume I'm a complete moron
I just recently returned to the Feed the Beast modpack (now using FTB Ultimate) after ignoring FTB for months. I decided to return to try modern building with FTB, because of the extra materials, greenery, and microblocks.
Most people who build good modern in this game know that default doesn't cut it, and a smooth and HD texture pack is required. Sadly, the only one available for FTB that meets those requirements is Soartex Fanver, so I chose to use it. I installed Optifine 1.4.7 Standard D5, and got into the game.
I noticed that the main menu title bar was plain white. I hopped into the game, and saw alot of weird buggy errors. The spot where the cursor should be was replaced with a small square, the inventory and hotbar where plain white, the sun seemed abnormally big, and some blocks where plain white, with no applied textures.
Does anyone know the cure for this problem? I want to start trying modern building in FTB as soon as I can, and this texture bug is one big factor blocking me from doing so.

If I remember correctly, CTM is now handled differently in texture packs. It could be that the texturepack maker hasn't optimized to 1.5.2's new CTM support layout.
why is it that optifine is making stuff disappear in my inventory? I can't even see the stone axe I got in my hand in the hotbar along with other stuff... why also i'm using the latest one I just confused.
Try refreshing your texturepack (default or custom) by either pressing F3 + T on your keyboard, or going to Options ---> Video Settings --> Texture Pack and reselecting your TP.
For the next optifine, could you make rain and snow options to be sepreate, like if you want snow on and rain off. I don't like the rain and I always wanted to see snow, but I turn off rain and snow.
Pros:NO MORE RAIN, DECREASED CHANCE OF LAG OR LAG SPIKES, FPS DROPS, ECT.
Cons: No snow.
Here are the pros and cons for having the feature
Pros:No more rain, I can have snow, NO MORE RAIN SOUNDS,
Cons:FPS Drops, ect. (Dont care about that unless rain is off.
Also for this idea can you make the storm weather have a light, drizzle, medium, or heavy feature, so that if you like a lot of rain or snow, or a little bit of rain and snow, or just normal rain and snow (medium).
Just thought of this, can you turn off thunder and lighting sounds?
Thanks, I'm not asking for much, I just text a lot.
What versions of everything do you use? Versions for Minecraft, Optifine, Texturepack.
What texturepack are you using?
What do you mean by broken? Post screenshots.
Sorry, 1.5.2 of all, custom texture pack made by mixing multiple texture packs, Missing texture.
Here is a list of my mods:
Ars Magica
Backpack mod
Buildcraft
Equivalent Exchange 3
Hud+
Obsidiplates
Railcraft
Wolves+
Zan's minimap
Here's an idea of what you should do next: Because texture packs now have a different image for every block, I think you should add random textures for blocks and items! Wouldn't that be cool? Also, the random texture feature should be controllable through NBT. Please, reply if you agree.

When I install OptiFine, whenever I join a singleplayer world, it always seems to crash, even if I install it correctly. Is it something wrong with my Minecraft, the OptiFine I installed, or is it just something with my computer?
Does optifine support texture packs up to 512x? I ask because I made a high res texture for my achievements menu, but it just crashes the game when I try to load the texture.

I've thought of that before, even when MC had icon sheets for their block textures.

Also, SGMCrafter has a good idea.

It's possible with connected textures, I don't know how to set it up though
Ignore me, That's a feature in MCpatcher only X_X
I have a question about using optifine with multiple versions of minecraft with mods.
I play on a server which currently runs tekkit 1.0.6.
I updated to 1.1.5 so I could use the new atomic science additions in a single player game. I installed optifine after doing this. I wanted to go back to 1.0.6 in order to play on the world I had started on the server, now optifine is not showing up. Can I switch between multiple versions of tekkit while keeping optifine installed, or will I have to reinstall it everytime I switch versions? I understand why I get errors if I load either world with conflicting versions, but was wondering if I could install optifine in both versions without having to reinstall each time i switch?
I am having a serious issue with Optifine - it appears to be stopping renders drawn with the Tessellator on pass 1. For example, the colored areas and lines in the image below are not visible when Optifine is installed.
This is an issue that has only happened in 1.5.2.

Of course it's fine if I log back in with Connected Textures disabled, but the moment I go near that particular block with it enabled, the entire client implodes in a fit.
Solution: Turn Connected Textures off, blow up the entire biome, ?, profit
But seriously idk

I'm guessing you either a.) are using an old/low-end computer or b.) have messed with the Java memory allocation on your computer. Either way, Minecraft with mods needs more memory to run than vanilla. There's tons of tutorials out on the Internet about how to increase the amount of memory Java can use for Minecraft. Find one that works for you.
EDIT: Since FTB is a modpack that has been facing a lot of questions about this issue lately, I'd check the FTB forums for help first.
Try refreshing your texturepack (default or custom) by either pressing F3 + T on your keyboard, or going to Options ---> Video Settings --> Texture Pack and reselecting your TP.
Yours Truly,
-Sonic3532
Can you make clear glass like mcpatcher?
Sorry, 1.5.2 of all, custom texture pack made by mixing multiple texture packs, Missing texture.
Here is a list of my mods:
Ars Magica
Backpack mod
Buildcraft
Equivalent Exchange 3
Hud+
Obsidiplates
Railcraft
Wolves+
Zan's minimap
Visit my Youtube channel here (still empty) if you're a strange gamer!
Also, SGMCrafter has a good idea.
I've thought of that before, even when MC had icon sheets for their block textures.
It's possible with connected textures, I don't know how to set it up thoughIgnore me, That's a feature in MCpatcher only X_X
This is an issue that has only happened in 1.5.2.
