You should try and add in types of animals like giraffes, lizards, frogs, and octopus, angler fishes and a whole bunch of animals xD Just so it has more animals in the mod. It would be cool to see them especially the underwater ones like octupus and angler fishes and eels. But still, awesome work with this mod dude xD love the textures and i think your one of the best modders EVER!!! Thnx for making this mod Bro!!!!
Hey, the link to the dev version of Mo' Creatures is blocked by mediafire, just fyi. Was looking to check it out since I'm encountering this crash when I try to join my server that has the mod installed. The server doesn't crash or anything, I just get: http://pastebin.com/DJDHYJT1
For a little bit, I would get Out of PermGen errors, but I deleted a few mods and managed to get to the point where I log in, see chat and the world loading and then MC crashes with that error.
Frequency = the frequency that CustomMobSpawner will pick that particular mob when it chooses a random spawn. The higher it is, the more "frequent" it will be chosen.
Min - After CMS chooses a spawn, this is the lowest number that this type of mob can spawn at the same time. So if you have 2, then CMS will never spawn less than 2 at a time for this type of creature.
Max - After CMS chooses a spawn, this is the highest number that this type of mob can spawn at the same time. So if set to 5, it will have a chance to spawn up to 5 at the same time.
Chunk - This relates to world gen(as a chunk is generated). So when a chunk is generated, how many spawns can occur at the same time for this particular mob? if set to 1, you should never see more than 1 of the type in that chunk.
If you want more creatures to spawn of a specific type, raise the limits. in this case you would just raise water mobs to a higher number. As for the spawn tick rates, this controls how often CMS will attempt to spawn that specific type of entity. So if you want a ton more spawns for watermobs, you can lower the waterSpawnTickRate. For example, since 20 ticks = 1 second in real time, if you set the tick rate to 1, CMS will attempt to spawn water mobs 20x every second. Our default of 60 means it will spawn a water mob every 3 seconds.
Hope this helps.
This CERTAINLY helped me! Thank you. It's unbelievable how hard information about how the custom spawner works is to find.
So I have been using The mo' creatures mod for some time now and just recently started having an issue (before 1.6 was released) where absolutely none of the creatures spawn, at first I thought maybe I accidentally disabled the Custom Spawner but I didn't I even cranked the spawn rate for silver skeletons giving them max frequency and lowest tick spawn rate etc.etc. and nothing although all the creatures files are in the right places and spawn eggs work just fine I also looked on here too see if I missed an update but I re downloaded all the files the GUIAPI,CustomSpawner and the Mo' creatures mod all fresh files and there were no conflicting ID messages or anything as far as I know of is this common ?

????, i have made a little lake with a white dolphin inside it, and i have taken it in and outside the lake many times with a water gate, i dont really understand what is happening to yours : /
Thanks for your feedback.
If I understand you correctly, you have a small body of water - you said small lake - with no exit from it. The dolphin cannot leave the lake. Do you then have a small area connected to the lake which you get to through the water gate ... and your water gate is not letting the dolphin out of its pen? I am wondering if your water gate really does keep the dolphin in its pen, or is the dolphin just swimming around in the lake.
I am located right on the sea, and I have a large pen for my dolphins which is surrounded by the sea and connected to the shore. I put a water gate between the enclosed pen and the sea, and the dolphins just swim right out of the enclosed pen into the sea, never to return. This is why I now have sand blocks instead of the water gate, and this is not a great solution, as I have to break the blocks and replace them every time I want to take a dolphin out of the enclosure. I tried using double doors, but as I said, the dolphins don't want to go through them most of the time, and when I ride them through, they get damaged, sometimes so much so that they die.
The water gate I constructed is not stopping the dolphin from getting out of its pen. Maybe I am not making it properly, or I have heard that water gates do not work in the current version of Minecraft. I am using 1.5.2 right now. I've got my water gate configuration below.

there are two ways of fixing this
1. Pickup Ichun's gravity gun mod and use that to move the dolphins in and out of the pen manually
2. pick up Computer craft and miscperiphs add-on and program a door out of wireless turtles with the top row being tank turtles, it will take a fancy program but it would work as turtles act as blocks and can stop water.
How do i limit the amount they spawn at there are WAY too many! Please and Thank yah.
Press the ESC key go to global mod option into Zharks mo' creatures into custom spawner and there are adjustable bars as to how many spawn at one time it is default set to 250 which is an obnoxious amount especially when playing on hard difficulty.
Open up your chat in-game and type '/gamerule doMobSpawning true'. If you do not have cheats enabled, open your world to LAN and allow cheats.
I did what you suggested it didn't change anything still only vanilla mobs spawning I turned them off in the Custom Spawner options and that didn't change anything either I would still like to play with the vanilla mobs anyway for a steady supply of vanilla items.

Can anyone please explain me in a specific way how to lower the spawn rates of every creature? not the chances of individual creatures spawning, but of the general spawn, do i have to lower or the number of animals in the custom spawner options? do i increase or decrease the spawn ticks? Vanilla and MoCreatures animals are spawning a lot, so much that it gets annoying.

overall spawn limits will limit the total numbers of each type of critter/mob. the spawn tick rate is how fast, the higher the number the slower they spawn, it is the ticks between spawn attempts

nothing, it is a known GUI bug, you'll just have to edit the settings in the config file.
Ok, and how exactly do i reduce the overall spawn limits?
Your 1.4.7 versions has been removed from mediafire, got another link for it?

Every other mob I've tried I can edit no problem, it's just that one mod. What did I do wrong?
overall spawn limits will limit the total numbers of each type of critter/mob. the spawn tick rate is how fast, the higher the number the slower they spawn, it is the ticks between spawn attempts
nothing, it is a known GUI bug, you'll just have to edit the settings in the config file.
Ok, and how exactly do i reduce the overall spawn limits?
ZallCaTor's Sprite Ordering Service. is awesome too
Is my RPG answerI guess
Did it work?
