I've made a couple of tools to hopefully help some of you mac users! PC users have simple ways of starting servers, installing mods, making backups, etc. Even when there isn't a default minecraft way of doing it, there is almost always a PC only tool to help. Today, I bring you the mac equivalent of these tools
Want to support development? You can do so in two easy ways! First (and simplest) is just to use the adf.ly links provided (click "Download through adf.ly" as opposed to "Download"). Second (if your feeling really generous) you can donate to me on my website or by following this link. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the tools!
Minecraft Jar Extractor
Allows for simple installations of mods. Press "extract" and it will create an "mctmp" folder on your desktop which you can drag any mods class files into (you heard me, any mod!). After doing so, press "recompile" and the tool will auto-magically repack the jar, as well as handle the META-INF, allowing you to start up the game and play with your newly installed mods! Simple and to the point, this tool should help many of you out. Download v1.2 or Download v1.2 through adf.ly
Changelog
v1.3
- Added ability to change extracted folder location
- Fixed game breaking bug preventing mods from successfully installing
v1.2
- Added 10.6 compatibility
v1.1
- Fixed startup bug
v1.0
- Public release
Minecraft Server Starter
A simple (though full featured) minecraft server starter. Windows users have a nice little exe to click on for starting their server, but mac users are stuck with a non-runnable jar file. This program allows you to pick a folder anywhere on your computer, automatically download the minecraft_server.jar to that folder, and then run the server from there. It even let's you toggle the gui! Configurable ram amounts coming in a future update. Download v1.1 or Download v1.1 through adf.ly

That's all for now, but there is certainly more to come. I am open to requests, leave a comment below if you have any idea, or send me an email! You can view my other projects at my website, www.atlaswegman.com.
Check out my minecraft tools, mods, or maybe my website! I've got tons of applications (both minecraft related and not) which some of you may find useful. Thanks!
Simple little tools, and since I don't have a Mac, I'm not using them. I'll refer a friend to them though.
Thanks! Let me know how he likes 'em

Anyone having issues with the applications not starting, give them another download. It seems they weren't fully uploaded before and were missing some resources. Sorry!

When life gives you a potato, wonder why the heck life just gave you a potato. Why not something else? Like money? Or a combustable lemon? No, you get a potato. Nothing else.
Edit: Where do the extracted files reside? I can't seem to find them anywhere xD
The extracted files will be in a folder called mctmp on your desktop. I am currently working on a version which will allow you to change their location

Updated the jar extractor to 1.3! Fixed a critical bug preventing the installation of mods, and added the ability to change the directory which the files are extracted too.
Also, here is a sneak peak of a bukkit server starter I am working on with Ari Lotter (GUI Designer)!

Sweet! I love this. Especially the server app; you should make a cutom GUI for the server. That'd be cool. About time us OS X users got some Minecraft tools.

Thanks for the kind words! I really love RedPower 2, it's incredibly powerful. Definitely one of the best out there. Thaumcraft 2 is also quite well down. Check out Direwolf20, he's got some helpful videos

Quick test, did this do it for you? If so I'll make a version for the server starter as well
I used the server one!

Hmm, could I have some more info about your system? Are you by any chance on 10.6?
