here, anyone want to give some advice on a pile of new 32x textures?
If anything at the moment, the stone has been giving me trouble. I originally did something that gave it a bit of a pinstripe appearance, so I tried breaking it up into a bunch of smaller stones, but it seems to have some tiling faults and at the end of the day, resembles cobblestone too much. I had originally wanted to give stone a bit of a naturally carved appearance, but at the end of the day I couldn't make the pattern look right at all and I didn't think it would look that good with Minecraft's regular blocks anyways.
The dirt also seems a bit off, like I'm ok with the basic design, but it could tile better and ultimately, I don't think the color is that great. I should probably stare at more pictures of dirt to bring it better in alignment with actual dirt.
Just like Mojang to give us more ugly textures, just means we can have fun making them pretty. I like how the three new stone types are found in normal stone, the hard part is sorting out how to texture it so it FITS in with the normal stone.
Well done dithering, looks immersive with so little color.
Here's something for your question a while back, used it for some leaves. http://gas13.ru/v3/t...ng_greats_1.php

So, here's my new grass side and sand.
Thoughts/concerns?
Its too late to change their art for Minecraft anyway. Any overhaul of the graphics would cause quite the bother for some.
Possibly that is their opinion. Certainly they have a strong brand identity with their low-fi, blocky graphics. But the style of individual textures varies quite widely, (i.e. minecraft texture already clash with minecraft textures.) and it would be easy to find a skilled artist who could create much nicer textures that did not clash much with existing minecraft art. But they choose not to.
Please read "How to join". Also I think drfrozenfire stopped checking this thread again.
By the way, you don't need to be a member to get feedback and such here.

"sometimes, wizards are so awesome, it hurts"
The block itself.
Junkboy doesn't make the art for the game. If he did it would probably look good.
Yeah, besides they're coders, not artists. Cut them some slack.
What level of transparency would you recommend for the stain glass so it is both see through, but also show its color?
Then what does he do?
Also, on topic, could someone give me some feedback on my textures? They're the first post one page back, and they're some more after a little scroll.

I used Lilyo's sand palette.

Slack denied. They are a highly profitable company that employs talented artists (see scrolls). The use of programmer art is a deliberate choice.

But they've changed the textures for things they've released in snapshots before.
And I don't care if it's a stylistic choice on their part or not, those new textures are just ugly.
Thanks! It's actually a new style of shading I'm trying out, glad it worked!
On another note, the line running pretty much straight down in your side-grass is a bit of an annoyance.
