I'm going to work on a new grass texture sometime this week. A commenter on said that my grass texture looks like a badly compressed jpeg. Looking at it now, yea, it's not a good texture. I'm going to fix that.
First look at the new texture hopefully Tuesday.
Any other textures you nice people don't feel are up to snuff? Let me know!
Self-bumping to get some opinions on my new grass textures:
I personally like them way better than the previous versions. What does everyone think? Should they be a permanent part of the pack next release?
Also, anything else anyone thinks should be redone? I'm hoping to call this pack "done" for the time being, and get to work on the next one. Speak now or hold your peace... for a while at least.
Hi. Me bumping my own thread again. With pictures no less!
New Swords:
I like these new versions well enough, though I might still tweak them a bit before the next release. I made each one look different, rather than having gold, iron, and diamond be basically re-colors of one another.
I hope everyone enjoys them!
Anything else anyone wants to see improved or changed? Come on! Tell me! Improving things is the only way this thread ever gets to see light. Without a constant feed, it will vanish into the abyss that is the Texture Pack forum, buried forever under a few eternally-popular packs and an endless stream of questions that should have been posted in Texture Discussion in the first place!
With the new format to texture files and the disparity in opinion regarding sandstone/obsidian/water textures, would it be possible for you to put the different variants of those textures (and the others I haven't mentioned) into the pack as well so people can swap out the ones they don't like? I really like the smooth obsidian because I think it looks more like obsidian in the real world. And I prefer the light sandstone (non-red) because it matches the sand texture and the two are often found together.

I assume you're referring to the polls on the preview thread with that first bit.
To answer you're question, I'd rather not. The main reason for this is a lot of the older versions of those textures just simply aren't up to the standard of the rest of the pack. This is particularly evident with the sandstone you mentioned. The original yellow one doesn't look right next to the existing blocks. This is also why I continue to improve a lot of these textures, like the TNT from a few posts above. I want to get everything looking good together. Adding my old textures back in, even as variants, seems like a step backwards.
You're free to edit the pack as you see fit, though, so if you want the sandstone more yellow just adjust the hue in the editing program of your choice. Smoothing the obsidian texture is a little trickier, of course, so that might be a problem. The water can be done by graying out the existing water textures and then adding a watercolorX.png file of your choice into the /misc/ folder.
I know this isn't the answer you were wanting, but I'm calling artistic integrity on this one. If there's ever an in-game way to choose texture variants, I'll consider going back and cleaning up the old versions to add in as options. Otherwise, it seems like a lot of work for a feature very few people would use. Sorry.
This is a good texture pack! It isn't something i'd use everyday or for building (some blocks would look weird in the designs that i like), but on survival it looks pretty good. Keep up the good work!
Yea, nether brick is supposed to be blue. I haven't subbed... but I'm seriously considering it. I don't do much with my Youtube account other than comment on people's reviews of my pack.
Also, I'll work on a new ice texture this week. And a new falling snow since I seem to have totally neglected to do anything with falling snow. Oops. Guess the 100% thing is a lie.

Uh... I usually use them to kill things. That's what most people do with the swords.
But seriously, what's wrong with the swords? I like the swords.
What in particular don't you like? If it's something simple I can maybe address it.
Hmmm... I'll see what I can do to tweak them.
If you think of any specifics, just let me know.

You can get all of the most up-to-date textures in the latest Snapshot version of the pack.
Yea, I'm still doing that for the time being. Mostly so I have a reason to keep bumping the thread so it doesn't vanish into obscurity.
Anything else?
New TNT Texture to the Rescue!
What do you think?

Every pack has this problem to some extent. Even my own favorites are left on the sidelines unless I really plan a build around them.
Thank you, and I intend to. In that order.
And I've done a "review" of sorts. Great work!
