With this texture pack I started with my "New Realism" textures as a base, and I darkened them. However, this is more than just a darker version of that texture pack. I made new content specific to this pack and I am still working to make this pack hopefully stand out as one of the best of the "dark" texture packs.

I swear I've seen those ores from a different pack...
The ores are from a different pack, its the same ore images from my "New Realism" texture pack. However, the stone is darkened and is a different texture. The Iron is darker and I burnt the edges around them to make them seem more "into" the rock. Thanks for trying out my newest texture pack!
There is only one complaint I have and that is window panes. The edges appear purple and in your inventory you cannot see them because they are a square that fills up the inventory slot, not a cube like glass blocks.

Thank you so much for pointing this out, it is an oversight that I made on all of my texture packs in the Beta 1.8 Update. Fixed them, hope that I've finally got everything in there regarding the new content.
i want to make my own texture pack as well but i can't figure out how to post a screenshot. I'm sorry that this is a little off topic but how do i post them?
btw great pack :smile.gif:
The coal is oily, that is why it has the shine that it has in an ore state. I researched it before I made the "New Realism" texture pack. As far as the "huge diamond sword" goes, it is just a placeholder for whatever weapons I come up with for this pack that are suitable for the overall theme. I will be changing the weapons, I will look into changing the furnace and doors.
The glass frame that is supposed to be white, lol. Now, I'm glad that you changed it to what you thought it is supposed to be. I have at least one texture pack where the glass frame is colored as an all-glass block would be with a very light color you might see on the reflective edge of an all-glass block. In this case I chose a dark line to represent a darker than glass frame to maintain the theme of this dark texture pack. Perhaps it will make more sense as I make more progress with this pack. I didn't want a very light line to break up the other texture when it is seen in the window of a building. I will look into making it look slightly better as I work on the pack.
crafter1300: I will pm you with an answer to your question.

can you not make this pack any darker then it is? cuz the reason i love it is cuz of the minecraft feel it has! its like quandary (the old version) and it has the same castle cobblestone the wood is perfect all this stuff is good... but glass isnt something thats ment to be dark... if people want dark they use iron bars! so plz go ahead and make the white trim :smile.gif:!
Great job! New Realism is one of my favorite packs and this one looks just as good! I'm looking forward to your updates.
Thank you so much. I appreciate the praise of both "New Realsim" and this pack as well. So far I intend to give this texture pack some dark themed paintings, look into changing the foliage and grass gradient, possibly make changes to the "lighting" file, and do some more modifications to the armor and weapons. If there are specific changes that are requested by the fans of this texture pack I will look into making them.
As of right now, I'm playing using this texture pack, and the dark edge of the glass isn't driving me crazy. If enough people insist that it be made lighter I am willing to make it so. However, it is easy enough for a lot of people to make the simple change on that one texture. But I really appreciate the attention and ideas that the pack is generating, it will be sure to help me in the further development of the pack. I may even look into mod-support if this remains as popular as it has been, on mods that I myself play so therefore would have a grasp of how to go about making textures for them.
I don't get why you changed the swords. Are you planning on making them different? I hope so.
I want to make swords that are unique for this pack, the other ones were directly from "New Realism" with the wood colored darker to match this pack. I thought it best to start fresh since I am playing using this pack and ideas may come to me as I play. The current swords are default in shape but with a color pallet that matches the old set. If there are particular aspects of the old swords that you liked, I will try to incorporate them. And if I cannot come up with a suitable replacement for the old ones, I will add them back in. Thanks again for your support.
