Before we begin, lets get things straight. RULES:
1)No trolling/flaming. Helpful posts and comments only please.
2)No weird ****. That includes R34, gore or anyother thing that just doesn't seem right. Save your creepy shipping fan art for your creepy friends. We don't need that stuff here.
3)Art must be yours that you drew or created.Don't take credit for someone else's picture.
Okay, now that that is out of the way, let me gather my stray thoughts and explain what's going on here. This thread is dedicated for MLP drawings (digital or hand drawn) where artists either want criticism/critique or to just show others their work.
If you don't know what My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is, chances are you're probably in the wrong thread. If you want to know what it is, let me take your hand and guide you to Off-Topic's Mega Pony Thread where you can read the OP and get a better understanding.
Here are a few links if you want to try to learn how to draw these Technicolor ponies (Link dump commence):
That about wraps this short intro up. If I forgot to mention something, don't hesitate to shoot me a PM. Please feel free to show us what you got! We're here to help and discuss.
If you think your picture is of horrible quality and feeling a bit dishearted about posting, just remember: You can only get better if you are willing to learn and listen. : D
Take my 50th or so try at drawing a pony for an example. (RBD as Nick from L4D2 FTW)
And now look at my one thousand and thousand and one try.[/hyperbole]
Bit of an improvement, no? All that improvement was thanks to a few good bronies and a bit of dedication to try harder.
So get those pencils and tablets moving and show off your creations!
I like.
Here's some of my stuff on deviant art, please please pretty please with sugar on top leave a comment! My little avatar (made from template, custom color, hair, tail, cutie mark) Fastex Wallpaper (one of my worst D: ) Raven Coo (a bit of redesigning for my avatar) 5-Minute-Ponies (some dirty and quick sketches)
I've just started drawing these so they look a bit... aweful :biggrin.gif:

Nonsense! Better then my very first pony. (I didn't know how the faces went D : )
Your avatar looks great! Maybe a bit bulky around the legs but he could just work out a lot. : P
The Wallpaper: Hmmm... Yeah out of the things you posted, that one isn't the best, but still better then when I started. Seems a bit to round everywhere. The body seems to be a large oval. Maybe try to separate it into two smaller circles. Same goes for the head, but just one, lol. I think the eyes need to be tilted back into the head a bit. Ears most likely need to wrap into the head instead of sitting on the side. Like the color scheme though.
You also churn out better sketches in 5 mins then me too! I think what I said about the body, eyes, and ears above fits here too.
Great job! Keep it up!
And sorry, I don't have a DA profile. Never really saw a need for one. :X

thanks for the hints, I also like the links you put up, they will help me a lot.
I still haven't figured out the best way to make digital images from my drawings, for now I scan them, use the path tool in gimp to outline everything and then stroke all paths, mask errors and apply layer colors, but somehow I think there's a better way...

No problem! Glad I can help.
I too used the path tool in GIMP when I scanned my sketches. But I got tired of coloring/drawing with a mouse and got me a tablet and photoshop elements 9. It doesn't have a path tool (or I haven't found it yet lol) so I still use the mouse and shift key to get smoother lines on the final draft. It all depends on what you have to work with really.
And since there is still some haste in posting, I'll show you what I'm working on currently.
It's a 30 min sketch of Derpy Hooves. Going to be used for GeminiK's banner. Begin scrunching up your faces and try not to look at the roughness of it for too long. Also, ignore my signature/date in there, I wrote it with my left hand, not the one I use regularly.
Realllly rough draft drawn at 2 in the morning (Damn insomnia)
Thinking the back legs could be bulked up a bit and the mane longer down the neck. Something is weird in the head/neck area and I can't find the problem. :dry.gif:
Ooh, interesting. I will regularly watch this thread for sure.
Also, I think I could add my drawing. This thread needs Twilight. Can't wait to get a tablet!
I think maybe I got the wrong tablet (years ago) but mine is so damn inaccurate I can't even follow a straight line with it :\
And my 24" multitouch monitor doesn't help much either because it only recognizes finger input, and fingerpainting ponies is absolutely no. NO.
nice drawing bagger, maybe I should practise by drawing existing ponies before I make my own!
Ooh, interesting. I will regularly watch this thread for sure.

Funny that should come up. I'm using the GIMP path tool right now for some of my drawings but I'm getting pretty bored of it, especially since I have a slow computer and it freezes up a lot. When I get a new computer I'm going to buy a tablet straight away. Unfortunately my goal of buying a high quality PC seems quite far away.

Nice drawing! We can always use more Twilight! : D
One problem I found though. Where is her cutiemark? XD

Awesome! Tablets are pretty fun to work with. I liked the annoyed Twilight dressed like Trixie.
Also, Pinkiemia eating Fluttershy's chickens is so horrible (and at the same time hilarious! : D)
I like the detail you put in your backgrounds and clothes too!
I drew an Applebloom vector.-snip-
Is it good? (Please don't flame me.)
Don't worry about flame here, we are here to show off our work and ask for criticism. : D
Anyways, your Applebloom looks good.
A little rough on the lines though. What program are you using and are you using a mouse?
Nonetheless, It is cute, well done. : )
And like I said, I have nothing to add at the moment. Real life calling and such. Sorry. :S
Sorry for not getting back to this thread. Haven't been drawing much so I kinda forgot. Ooops :X
Anyways, Multi-quote mode, ACTIVATE!

First attempt at an actual pony style. I usually do human fan-art, but decided to try something different. Done under 30 minutes I think- didn't keep track of the time. 8C
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"Remember crime against property is not real crime. People look at an oil painting and admire the use of brushstrokes to convey meaning. People look at a graffiti painting and admire the use of a drainpipe to gain access."

Very well done, especially for a first attempt.
If you are trying to go with more of the show's style maybe beef up the legs a bit. They are sorta like marshmallows in show. :biggrin.gif:
Also, the eye could be a bit bigger. It's insane how large they are.
But I like the look of your style. Good job! Always nice to see people break from their norm to try something different.
As you have seen before, I am doomed to always forget the cutie mark. Shame on me. Thanks for reminding me.Oh and thanks for the comments, everyone. I could use some criticism too, though. I am sure it still can be improved. Also, DTK, did you draw that avatar yourself? It looks really good.
Yeah I noticed in your profile picture too before you added it. : P
If you want some criticism, the back legs look off. Her stifle starts too low and they normally have a curved cannon bone instead of a straight line to their hooves.
Amazing how there are many anomalies there are in their anatomy. But what do you expect, they seem to be made of marshmallows.
Here is a 40 second demonstration I did in Gimp.
Hope I helped. Good job, nonetheless. :biggrin.gif:
And no I didn't. But the way she is drawn looks so cute. I wish I knew the creator to give credit to. : P

Oh, okay. Well you might be able too use the path tool to set points and manipulate the line over your picture in a new layer to get cleaner lines.

Here is the Gimp Tutorial on paths. It can explain better then I could.
Or if you want to start from the beginning or look though the Table of Contents, here is the link.

I looked at the tutorial and tried using the paths but it was still too hard.
