#1198523 [V1.6.2] Risugami's Mods - Updated.

Posted Risugami on 08 November 2010 - 10:06 PM

Everything updated for 1.6.2. The mods directory will now be located in the same directory as minecraft jar, unless the default game directory is changed, where it will act like it had on older versions.

Read this entire post. All of it. Downloading the mods means you agree to the disclaimer. You can skip the FAQ, but if you have an issue, consult it first, before consulting us. If you have an issue answered in the FAQ or this post itself, we won't help you. At all. We reserve the right to ignore dumbasses who do not pay attention to the big bold text. Completely and utterly, ignore them. To all of you who are good boys and girls, I suggest you ignore them too, should they post.

Modding now has its own IRC channel on esper.net, #risucraft.

Disclaimer: These mods require altering minecraft.jar, and SMP may not work with these mods installed. Some of these mods add new content, do not load worlds with this new content if the respective mod is not installed. I am not responsible for any damage done to your computer, worlds, or your copy of Minecraft. That said, backup your worlds and bin folder!

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is ModLoader?
-A: http://tiny.cc/PAIN

Q: Where is ModLoader?
-A: http://tiny.cc/PAIN

Q: How do I install ModLoader?
-A: http://tiny.cc/PAIN

Q: Why did you link me that image?
-A: Because you can't read. What part of "read this whole post" did you not understand?

Q: Why does my game freeze on the loading screen?
-A: The most likely answer is you forgot to delete META-INF, or your archive tool didn't want to delete it.

Q: Why does my game black screen?
-A: There are a number of reasons this could happen, the most likely is that you're trying to play alpha through the browser. Mods don't work with the browser version. I do not care about black screens. Get me the error log. Follow the instructions under the "Linux / Other" download on www.minecraft.net. This applies to all OS.

Q: Do these mods work with [older version]?
-A: No, they are designed for Minecraft 1.6.2.

Q: The AudioMod description hurt my head, is there some kind of readme that explains it in better detail?
-A: Not yet, so, in the meantime, feel free to contact me about it in IRC, and I will help.

Q: How come 7z throws out "Not implemented" OR WinRAR gives me an error when I try to add stuff to the jar?
-A: Update 7-Zip or close Minecraft.

Q: How do I uninstall the mods?
-A: You restore from a backup of minecraft.jar, and in case you didn't back it up, delete the version file in the bin folder, and Minecraft will redownload everything.

Q: What does input == null mean?

ModLoader 1.6.2
A mod, kind of like a mod manager, that stops conflicts with mods that alter rendering, recipes, add entities, gui, smeltables or fuel. If you're a modder, feel free to decompile this and learn how to make mods work with it. Inherit BaseMod and override any methods as necessary. The mod's main class file should be prefixed with 'mod_'. Read the Javadoc for information on methods available.

Elemental Arrows 1.6.2
The Elemental Arrows mod adds four new types of arrows; explosive arrows, fire arrows, ice arrows, and a joke weapon, egg arrows.. They are crafted the same way as normal arrows, but the head is replaced based on the element; gunpowder for explosive, coal for fire, snowball for ice, and egg for, well, egg. Crafting an explosive arrow only gives you one arrow, and it explodes upon impact. Crafting a fire arrow gives you one arrow, that will ignite stuff upon impact. Crafting an ice arrow gives you one arrow, that will freeze water into ice, lava springs into obsidian, put out fire, and break torches. Egg arrows spawn chickens upon impact with the ground, but there's a secret too. Lightning arrows strike lightning where ever they hit, use diamond in recipe. Homing bow recipe is same layout as regular bow, but diamond instead of sticks. Requires ModLoader 1.6.2.

More Stackables 1.6.2
This mod makes saddles, doors, and signs up to 8 in a stack, minecarts and boats up to 4 in a stack. This is great for storage and for using workbenches, chests, or furnaces, as you no longer consume your food! Requires ModLoader 1.6.2.

Sign Tags 1.6.2
Type [time] into a sign, and it will show the current time. You can also type [x], [y], or [z] and find the current position of the sign in regards to that axis. [a|b] is a redstone input function for signs, where text replacing 'a' will be shown when the sign is powered, otherwise 'b' is shown. Type [light], and it will show you the current light level of the sign's position. [biome], [temp], [humid] each tell you the biome you're in, the temperature of that area, and the humidity of that area, respectively. [temp], [humid] will no longer function in Nether.

Death Chest 1.6.2
When you die, if you have a chest in your inventory, it will be placed where you die, or in the closest available spot. The chest will be filled with as many items as possible. Items stored in the crafting slot are still lost, as usual, and any excess that won't fit in the chest will be dropped.

AudioMod 1.6.2(Not updated for now)
AudioMod is an upgrade of sorts, and a modder's utility. Included in this mod is CodecIBXM, created by Paul at www.paulscode.com, who is the creator of the sound system used in Minecraft. It allows Minecraft to play (in addition to ogg, wav, and mus files), xm, s3m, and mod files. The only readily available feature of this mod is the ability to add new music, however, it adds support for modders to add new records and sound effects. There is a slight increase in load time when using this mod. Using this, you can also use custom sounds, alongside the originals. Custom music and sound goes into the resources folder, music in mod/music. Custom sounds go into mod/sound. For example, if I were to add a new footstep sound effect to stone, I'd put the new stone1.ogg in mod/sound/step. In game, the new sound would occasionally be played, alongside the originals. Custom sounds for things like the menu click and water do not always work, at the moment.

Floodgate 1.6.2
Floodgate block can be used as either a floodgate, allowing toggleable water and lava falls, or as a trapdoor. When you place the floodgate control block, it will place a gate in front of the control block in the direction you are facing. Applying redstone power to this will remove the gate. Use the control block to open the GUI where you can place supporting blocks that will replace how the gate looks. Requires ModLoader 1.6.2.

Adds a GUI to all mob spawners, that will allow you to pick what mob to spawn. I also reallowed mining spawners. You can disable spawners with redstone aswell. Should be compatible with all mobs, but don't expect the mobs with special spawn conditions to work everywhere. Animals require grass, Monsters require darkness, Slimes require being in their special chunks, and 0-16 depth. Requires ModLoader 1.6.2.

Biosphere 1.6.2
This is a new generator. You may select this generator in More World Options when creating world. In this generator, the world is made up of massive spheres with glass domes. Inside these spheres are random biomes. There is a random chance of a lake being placed in the center of each sphere. Usually water, but rarely lava. Bordering this lake you will find sand for water, or gravel for lava. Connecting each sphere is a wooden bridge with fence rail. Beside each sphere is a smaller sphere, which is where you will find diamond and lapis lazuli. These ores only occur here, the others are equally spread throughout the spheres. The cave generator used here is a modified Nether cave generator, where like on the surface, will generate lava below a certain level. if this lava reaches the outside, an obsidian wall will be made to hold it in. Many options can be changed in ".minecraft/config/Biosphere.cfg". Requires ModLoader 1.6.2.

Armor Stand 1.6.2
This block will give you a place to show off your armor. Just place the block and right click on the platform. You can choose from a selection of skins to hold your armor, as well as have it stare at you, constantly. You may also change the texture of platform by putting block in the last slot. Known issues include: placing a block inside of dummy, standing on its head, possible inability for mobs to path around it. Recipe is 3 solid stone blocks along bottom, with 2 sticks in the middle. Requires ModLoader 1.6.2.

For Minecraft 1.6.2 and newer

For Minecraft up to 1.5.2

Please test and report back, include CPU, GPU and FPS before/after. Feedback is always welcome.

Information for Texture Pack Authors (based on MCPatcher's description)

For maximum FPS use:
- Graphics: Fast
- Render Distance: Short/Tiny
- Smooth Lighting: OFF
- Performance: Max FPS
- AdvancedOpenGL: Fast
- Clouds: OFF
- Fog: OFF
- Animations: All OFF
- Sky: OFF
- Stars: OFF

Tips and tricks:

1. Download the latest Java 7 builds from here: http://download.java.net/jdk7/. Minecraft should run much smoother with less lag spikes. It really helps.
2. Set the Java process to higher priority
3. Set "Limit framerate" to Max FPS. The limiter is so implemented that it always decreases the FPS.
4. Update LWJGL from here.
5. Lauch Minecraft with less memory (yes, really). Usually it does not need more than 350 MB and runs fine on all settings with the default texture pack. By default java allocates way too much memory (1GB) which may get swapped to disk and the overall performance may suffer a lot. To start Minecraft with less memory:
  • Download and start the Magic Launcher.
  • Click Setup, click tab Advanced
  • Enter 350 in the field "Memory"
  • Click OK
  • Login and play
6. Check your computer for malware and viruses - even "harmless" malware programs may affect badly the Minecraft performance.

Spoiler: Tl:dr

In Minecraft, the sky is the limit - literally. It doesn't matter how many thousands of blocks a player has traveled, or what dimension they're in, or even if they're playing in creative or survival, the highest they can ever build is up to a height of 256. Why is that? If Minecraft can have a world that's infinite in the north, in the south, in the east, and in the west, why can't that world be infinite up and down too?

In Minecraft's earliest days, in Classic and Indev, the world was not infinite in any direction. This was because the entire world needed to be generated at the same time, and the entire world needed to be simulated at the same time as well. This led to a conundrum - the bigger the world, the more it lagged.
Notch didn't like this. He knew his players liked to explore and build large creations, so he found a way to make the world truly infinite. When the Minecraft Infdev came out, it brought with it truly infinite worlds. Suddenly, players could travel hundreds of thousands of blocks in any direction, and never encounter a barrier, or become too laggy.
The Infdev update brought about a very large change to Minecraft worlds to accomplish this feat. For the first time, instead every world being just a single huge piece, they were broken up into a two-dimensional grid of pieces, called chunks. Through breaking the world up into pieces, this 'chunk system' enabled infinite worlds by letting Minecraft create new pieces and simulate them only when it needs to.

Why does that not apply to the vertical axis? Because the type of 'chunk system' Minecraft uses right now is a linear one, which, by using only a two-dimensional grid to map out chunks, means that it is impossible for chunks to stack on top of one another, and by extension, meaning that a single chunk must cover the entire vertical space. This brings back the problem that the Infdev update was supposed to eradicate, now only with chunks, instead of an entire world; the bigger a chunk is, the more laggy it is. You can't just increase the height limit and make chunks taller, because it will become laggier, and laggier, and laggier to do it.
That's why, to fix this, Minecraft must change over to a cubic chunk system. Under this system, 163 block chunks are aligned on a three-dimensional grid, completely eliminating maximum height as an aspect of lag.

The immediate benefits:
•Minecraft worlds become as virtually infinite vertically as they are horizontally: The absolute limit being Y = ±30,000,000.
A large FPS increase: Alpha testers report an FPS increase of 100~200%.
Increase in running capability: Computers running Minecraft on Tiny render distance will handle only 30% the blocks they do now.

The possible features:
Spherical render/load distance: Reduce handled blocks by up to 30% by cutting corners made of unneeded chunks.
Server chunk occlusion/exclusion: Reduce bandwidth usage and defeat hackers by only sending data for visible chunks.
•Three-dimensional biomes: Save biome data per chunk rather than per block column, create volcanoes with magma chambers, underground rivers, tropical skylands floating over icy taigas, and more.

The disadvantages:
•Unloaded gravity-pause: Falling non-player entities and fluids will be forced to pause their fall if they reach unloaded chunks, but will resume falling when those chunks are loaded.
•Slow falling-pause: Players with slower computers and smaller render distances will have falling occasionally paused as they fall into unloaded chunks, until new chunks can be loaded.

The problems:
•Current sunlight and rain calculation methods cannot work with infinite vertical space: The solution to this is described here.
•Current BiomeDecorator cannot work with multiple vertical chunks simultaneously: The BiomeDecorator code must be altered to function correctly with this, or removed.
•Current cave generation method is executed an extra time for each vertical chunk created simultaneously, leading to lag spikes on world generation: Cave generation's method must be altered to suit this system more.
•Current grass/dirt generation algorithm forces additional chunk requests when chunks are loaded, causing chunks to load slower than they should: This algorithm must be replaced with something else.

Changes in how things work:

Obviously, the implementation of this new chunk system will change quite a few things. These changes are mostly either necessary or in the interest of increased efficiency. Such changes are categorized and explained below.

How worlds will be stored:

Changes to terrain, ores, etcetera:

Coping with sunlight:

Changes to servers:

Render/Load distance alterations:

#2132805 [1.7.6] TooManyItems in-game invedit (Apr 8)

Posted Marglyph on 23 January 2011 - 08:00 PM

Marglyph's TooManyItems

Create and enchant items in-game, including mod items. Save and load entire inventories. Create unlimited stacks and tools. Switch game modes, test mods, create huge survival worlds, and more. Updated quickly!

TL;DR common issues: Not all features work in MP, and you need permissions. There is a config file in the same place as your saves folder. Does not require any other mods, but if you have ModLoader or Forge (not both!) infinite survival stacks will work properly. If it crashes, post the crash report (look in your minecraft folder for TMI's own error dumps). Use the correct version! Delete META-INF. Alt-click to remove favorites.

Copyright: All of TooManyItems except for the small portion excerpted from the original Minecraft game is copyright 2011-2013 Marglyph. TooManyItems is free for personal use only. Do not redistribute TooManyItems, including in mod packs. Making YouTube videos using TMI is good though!

Posted Image Installing & Usage

Install: Read the Installing Mods page on the Minecraft Wiki. Search for Install TooManyItems on YouTube. The community has made lots of video tutorials. Thanks guys!

Turn On/Off: Press the "o" key while in the inventory screen. You can change this key by editing the configuration file.

Add items: Left-click on items in the right sidebar to add full stacks, or right-click to add one at a time.

Configuration file: Find the directory in which your minecraft saves folder and options.txt are, and once you have used TMI at least once you will also find TooManyItems.txt there. This contains options that you can change, not all of which are documented yet.

Spawners: In some previous versions, to create different kinds of spawners, edit the "spawner" line in the configuration file. Use at your own risk; in some (older) versions of Minecraft, spawners of non-mob entities such as boats can crash the game and wreck your save.

Unlimited stacks/tools (single-player only): Shift-left-click on items in the right sidebar to add unlimited stacks OR unlimited-use tools or flint and steel. ModLoader is required for "true" unlimited stacks. Without ModLoader the quantity of >64 stacks will refresh when you open your inventory.

Tabs: Use the chest, star, and book icons to change between the item, favorites, and enchant tabs.

Favorites: This allows you to save commonly used items. ADD to the favorites panel by: (1) clicking an item on the favorites panel, (2) alt-clicking an item in the items panel, or (3) clicking the Favorite button in the enchant panel. REMOVE an item from the favorites panel by alt-clicking it.

Enchanting: (in SP, or may work on some Bukkit servers) Click an item on the enchanting panel to switch to that type of item. Use the + and - buttons to change the levels of individual enchantments. Click the Create button to make the enchanted item once, or the Favorite button to add it to the favorites panel.

Trash (single-player only): Drop an item stack on the item sidebar or the trash icon to delete it. Click the trash icon to turn "delete mode" on and off (in "delete mode" you will delete any item you click on -- useful for selectively deleting a lot of items). Shift-click thee trash icon to wipe out your inventory.

Game mode: Click the "S", "C", and "A" icons on the toolbar for survival, creative, and adventure mode, respectively.

Time: Click the sun and moon icons to set the time to sunrise, noon, sunset, or midnight.

Difficulty: Click the creeper icon to toggle the difficulty without having to go into game preferences.

Health/hunger: Click the heart icon to set health and hunger to max.

Save states (single-player only): Several slots are available for you to save your entire inventory and restore it later. (The "x" button next to a saved state will remove it.) This can be used to save your "real" inventory before editing, save a blank inventory to clear out everything you're holding, save a full inventory of materials, share inventories between characters, etc.

Multiplayer: You need to be a server op. Also, every non-vanilla server works a little differently. The command issued to the server to give you items is configured in TooManyItems.txt as "give-command". In this command, you should put {0} for the player's username, {1} for the item ID, {2} for the quantity, and {3} for the damage value. If {3} isn't in the command, items with damage values other than 0 won't show up.

Vanilla server command: /give {0} {1} {2} {3}

* Since the vanilla server used to not support item damage with the give command, TMI may still have /give {0} {1} {2} by default. You can now add {3} to the end. The default will be updated in a future TMI version.

Bukkit with the Essentials mod command: /item {1}:{3} {2}

Fast crafting: Right-click on the output square when crafting to craft the maximum possible amount. (Works while the inventory overlay is disabled).

Posted Image Troubleshooting

Crashes show an error report on a purple and white screen, and you can copy and paste the report into a post. With the latest version of TMI, most errors that would have crashed should instead show a chat message that says a report has been saved to a file in your minecraft folder, and you can copy and paste from that file into a post.

Black screens are caused primarily by: not deleting META-INF from your minecraft.jar, mod conflicts, wrong versions of mods, and improperly installing mods. Please check these things and, if necessary, start fresh from a new minecraft.jar as an old installation problem may still be causing errors.

"TMI doesn't show up": Press the "o" key in your inventory screen to turn TMI on and off. (Unless you have already changed this in your config file.) Your preference about whether TMI should be displayed is separate in single- and multi-player. If this still doesn't work, you probably did not install TMI correctly.

Notes: TMI's code does not run until you open your inventory. Problems creating games are something else. TMI does not change any crafting recipes. You are not forced to use fast crafting: just left click like normal instead of right clicking. Yes, TMI does work in multiplayer, but read the instructions. No, it is not a server mod. Finally, the number of pages of items depends on your Minecraft window size, so, you are not missing items because it doesn't have the same pages as in the screenshot.

Uninstalling: If you manually installed a mod, the only way to uninstall is to either restore your backup copy of minecraft.jar (you did make a backup, right?) or delete minecraft.jar and run the game launcher so it downloads a new minecraft.jar. If you used a mod manager, refer to its instructions.

#13917156 Colored Light! (originally the 'Colored Glass!' topic)

Posted Galactic_Muffin on 02 April 2012 - 01:12 AM

it's been a year and a half of supporting and discussing this suggestion, it no longer is a suggestion that i can claim as mine for it is an idea that was molded and cared for by so many people, this suggestion is an idea that belongs to the community and because of your help for the past year and a half, we have finally made a breakthrough...
Guys, WE DID IT!

Posted Image

Mojang officially released a screenshot (https://mojang.com/2...napshot-13w41a/) showing colored glass implemented and fixes on the transparency issues they were having before. I can say with confidence that if it weren't for all your support for this topic, there's a good chance that colred glass wouldnt have even been included in this snapshot. For that you guys can be proud to be apart of something big, something that could change the way Minecraft feels forever. Thank you for all your support! And thank you Mojang for putting up with us and taking the time to implement our suggestion! :3

However, its not over yet, with the addition of colored glass, there is so much more we can do with it. Adding colored glass could be the beginning of big additions such as colored light in the future; So i will be changing the title of this topic to Colored Light!

Due to this topics' popularity I want this topic to act as an outlet for the communities' ideas and opinions on the topic of colored glass and its implementations in the future. So everyone, let us move on to the next step of our suggestion topic and help make a difference!

"So, I was mining today and stumbled upon beautiful natural glowing crystals in an underground ravine!"

"...Then I investigated a red glow I could see creeping through a tunnel shaft and found myself in the middle of a zombie hive! o__O"

Well, those are some of the things we could be saying if colored glass and colored light were added to MC!Posted Image
(images above are not real screenshots. They were Photoshopped by me to show what MC could be like if this topic's proposals were implemented)

[NOTE]Colored light and glass is something I believe all minecrafters should be able to enjoy with each other without the midleman or knowledge of mod installing. So for that reason, this suggestion is directed towards vanilla. We do however welcome mods here since it's said that "Colored light isn't possible." -_^

Here is how it could work:

Color Glass Blocks & Changing The Color of Light
Posted Image

Colored Glass and Colored Light are features I have wanted to see in Minecraft for some time. I wanted to see these features implemented so bad that I have come up with some ways it could be used in the game; it would greatly increase building potential and the ability for a player to customize an atmosphere by modifying the color of light. Based on my knowledge working in the game industry as an indiegame digital artist, I know that the impact something like colored glass and light would have on minecraft would be more important than most people know. In fact, it may even be safe to say that even Mojang underestimates the aesthetic importance of colored light and being able to manipulate it.
Here is a little diagram that briefly explains my proposition:

Here is a colored light mod that CptSpaceToster in a video spotlight! check it out! (ehem you too mojang -_^) colored light IS possible and it IS necessary this video shows that:

Redo how dyes are handled all together by giving cauldrons a purpose; making dye into a liquid form

  • Cauldrons containing water can be right clicked with powdered dye to color the water (a tint of water won't require new block types)
  • 3 objects can be dyed by right clicking the cauldron of dye whilst holding them. In this case, wool blocks, glass blocks, and glass panes (you can still take stained glass blocks of the same color and craft panes)
This solves the realistic problem with dying glass with a powder. It also gives Cauldrons a useful role. You can take the process further by being able to bottle dye from the cauldron but that would require potions to be stack-able and even though it's more efficient it's cumbersome to mass produce.

Here are some images that better explain the proccess:

If i were to make any suggestions, i would recommend a simple refraction system. Like redstone only carries current 13 blocks or so, the glass panels could, if encased in non-opaque blocks, carry the light further than it would normally travel (like optic fibers). Additionally i would suggest colored redstone lamps, so that the color could be turned on and of at the switch of a button.

Common Questions:
I have received a lot of comments about glass blocks and changing light color causing too much lag or requiring an entire overhaul of the light engine MC currently has implemented. What people don’t fully understand is how MC lights work and where in-game lag actually comes from in videogames. I can't say I completely understand how exactly the MC lighting engine works as I have not seen the code, however it is briefly explained here: http://www.minecraft....net/wiki/Light
if you have any better knowledge or sources that explains these points better, feel free to critique my points and share your insight on the topic. Posted Image

"Why did you label the topic as 'original'? This isn't the first colored glass topic, you know..."
You are correct, this is not the first topic on colored glass, nor am I saying it is. The 'Original' tag in the title is referring to this topic and it's contents specifically. On several occasions, I came across my topic copied directly into Redit and other online blogs; without any sort of credit to the images and content. As the images in this topic were created from scratch by me, copying this topic would be considered art theft.
So to answer your question, the Colored Glass! topic is labeled as original because it is, the original.

Is it possible to change the color of the light?
Yes. Difficult, but possible. It used to be quite easy to light blocks with individual colors in early versions of Minecraft, but with the current light system this is no longer the case. It would require additions to the light system, the renderer, the map file format, and the network protocol. (A technical proposal can be found here, behind the cut.)
(question aswered by Nocte)

Will it cause lag?
Yes, unfortunately the addition of colored light will lower your frame rate. How much? This is hard to predict until someone actually tries it on a variety of hardware, but there's no reason to believe it will be anything drastic. It will also have an impact on memory use -- 64 KB per unpacked chunk to be precise. And of course the color information will have to go over the network somehow. If necessary, it would be possible to add an option to simply ignore the color information, and keep the current system where all block lights have the same yellowish color.
(question aswered by Nocte)

"Are there any Mods with Colored glass or colored light?":
Yes, there are some mods for colored glass and there are older mods that have colored light implemented into MC. Here are just a few of these projects:

Kovu, a follower of this topic has been working on a colored light prototype. wheather he is doing it with the current minecraft engine or not is unclear but if it is, this proves that colored light is indeed possible with the current lighting engine. it may just need some performance updates. -_^

Discussion found here:

Nocte, one of the followers of this topic is very knowledgeable of what is going on behind all the gears and pendulums of Minecraft and has been working on this project. He may even tackle colored light. -_^

CptSpaceToaster, one of the followers of this topic is currently working on a colored glass mod inspired by this topic and he is making big progress on colored light; proving that it is Indeed possible to do. You can watch his progress on his colored glass and light mod topics here:

Here is a cool mod by Georqq that uses the same system suggested here; smelting colored sands to create colored glass, check it out!:
Colored sands into colored glass

Here is an outstanding colored light mod that was in the works by theoneandonlyflexo check out his videos and his channel! Posted Image
Video 1
Video 2

"I don't like colored sand because it would add too many new blocks to MC":
I added colored sand as an option for crafting colored glass because it would kills 2 birds with one stone. It would solve problems for people wanting colored glass and people wanting more color variations in standard blocks such as non-burnable, gravity, and stairs/slabs. The colored sand idea actually wouldn't require any new blocks or textures at all. The reason why, is because of how it could be programed. Much like how the biomes change the color of grass and leaves, both can wool and sand. Thus all blocks or future blocks that are craft able from sand or wool could be done in the same way; being colored entirely in code and decreasing the textures needed for the blocks. This solution would obviously require a change to how entities work but it would make way for limitless amount of colored items much like how leather armor works.

Now you may still be thinking, "well, that still doesn't fix the items being displayed in the inventory" actually it wouldn't be much of a problem since all of these items are just as hard to craft, having an inventory full of different colored sandstone blocks and the like, is only the fruits of your labors; having to collect dies, making cored sand and crafting them into stone. If what you are worrying about is the creative menu being overly crowded; this also wouldn't be a problem since the 1.3.1 update that added an improved creative mode inventory with
categorized tabs for various items/blocks and a search menu. If more colored blocks are added, they could simply just be added into to their own tab with would be extremely useful for pixel art artists and the like.

If you are still unsatisfied with colored sand being a step in creating of colored glass, we have discussed other options as colored sand is only a suggestion. Please look at "Cool Ideas by you guys" above for more information.

"Wouldn't it be easier to make colored glass by just combining it with dye like how you make wool?"
Easier yes, but wouldn't make much sense. Colored sand would mimic how real colored glass is created and it would open up more opportunities for new blocks using colored sand; including colored sandstone steps. Also, considering the "special properties" of colored glass, I believe it should be slightly harder to craft instead of simply adding color. with that said, I do not intend to say my crafting proposition is the best solution. In fact there have been many great alternative suggestions that have been made here. So keep thinking critically, innovate on existing ideas and give us some great suggestions! Posted Image

"Has Mojang seen this?"
Yes, in fact we even heard back from Mojang on the topic; Nathan Adams also known as Dinnerbone from Mojang stressed that they have indeed been noticing the feedback on colored glass from the community. He also stated that colored glass is indeed possible and hinted that implementation of colored glass is not a "no"; which is exciting news.
Unfortunately, he also informed us that colored light is impossible on a large scale with the current lighting engine. However he also stated: "The lighting system is extremely broken and needs rewriting" this could mean that there is still a chance, if re-written, a new lighting engine may be able to support colored light. But this is uncertain.

The whole conversation can be found here:

ChadGarion25 informed me of a tweet made by Dinnerbone on 25 Sep at 6:14 AM eastern time where dinner bone posted a comment that could be very promising for colored glass and colored light to be implemented into Minecraft! Posted Image

Check it out!

So basically what we can assume from all this is:

1) colored glass is very much possible in the current version of Minecraft; except it wouldn't allow other transparent textures to be seen through the glass (much how ice and water works in MC) and it would be difficult to ad a Z-buffer without having performance issues on slow platforms. This may not be much of an issue as most people will not have a reason to blend the colors of glass by stacking and though not completely transparent, it may look ok anyway. however I feel if a z buffer were added, perhaps there could be a toggle in video settings to turn off z-buffering for those who are playing on slower computers. Dinnerbone also hinted that the implementation of colored glass into vanilla is neither a yes or a no... so, I wouldn't give up on it just yet, guys. -_^

2) There are mods that have colored light implemented in versions of Minecraft before the adventure update. Check out theoneandonlyflexo for more info!Posted Image

3) Yes Mojang has noticed this topic so there is no need to keep tweeting it to them as if they have never seen it.

Mock-up "CD Case" for the Aether! Created by our talented artist, The5.

Hey guys! If anyone wants to come discuss the Aether mod, you can come over to the IRC channel #aethermod on esper.net. Come chat with the dev's and other Aether-lovers!

If you do not have an IRC client here is how to join the channel with your web browser:

1. Go to http://www.esper.net.
2. Click on "Chat now!" in the top right hand corner. This will go to another page with an input box which has "#" inside it.
3. Inside the input box, type in #aethermod and press connect.
4. The mibbit client will then request for your username, type it in.
5. Have fun chatting!

See you there!

Enjoy and stay tuned!

This mod has literally taken 4-5 months of SOLID development to come to fruition, and we have wasted thousands of hours of our free time to complete this mod. A good way of saying thank you to the developers is to not only download the mod and support the project, but donating a bit of spare money really helps motivate us. Like I said, this project has been developed for an insanely long time, the donations would be VERY much appreciated for our hard work. Thanks!

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delay in the patch; the team has been very busy wrapping things up with the new mod version, and of course some of us have to attend to real life. However, we have finally finished the patch, and it is now available for download! Not only have we fixed a huge amount of bugs, but we've also added new features, tweaks and balance changes to freshen up your Aether experience. We've worked very hard on the patch, and so we hope you enjoy what it has to offer. Posted Image

If you have yet to see the change list for Patch 1.02 of the Aether, you can see it below:

- Dungeon Rewards are now hidden in TooManyItems by default. However, if people would like to spawn them for any reason, you can now disable the hiding code for the rewards by changing "TMIhidden = true" to "TMIhidden = false" in mod_Aether.cfg file. This file can be found in your /.minecraft/config/ folder. DO NOT change "#TMIhidden (boolean:true)" as this will not actually affect the config file, and immediately resets upon opening Minecraft. Instead, change "TMIhidden = true".

- Completely restructured Sound files for the Aether.

- When riding a saddled Moa, a "Jump Meter" will now appear above your Armour defense. This Jump Meter will show you the amount of mid-air jumps your Moa can perform, and also how many are left before it can no longer jump. Thanks to Penumber for the idea.

Posted Image

- Saddled Moas no longer wander around. They stay on the spot when you are not mounted on them.

- Ambrosium Shards now only heal "half a heart". We felt that Ambrosium was too powerful for such a common ore, thus the decision to decrease it's healing powers.

- Gravitite Ore is now much more common.

- Zanite Ore is now slightly less common.

- You can now press "B" on your keyboard to gain a Book of Lore for free. You will gain one according to the dimension you are in (for example, if you are in the Aether dimension you will gain a Book of Lore: Volume 3).

- Placing Lava in the Aether now freezes it into Aerogel.

- Books of Lore no longer appear in Dungeon chests.

- Aerogel no longer appears in Dungeon chests.

- Carved Stone no longer appears in Dungeon chests.

- Lightning Knives no longer appear in Dungeon chests in stacks higher than 16. This is so stacking is no longer screwed up (as the max stack for Lightning Knives is 16).

- When first entering the Aether in Minecraft, you will now gain a Cloud Parachute for free.

- If you hit the Bronze Boss with something other than a Pickaxe, it will now show a message which says "Hmm. Perhaps I should attack this beast with a Pickaxe?" so that new people understand they cannot attack it with other weapons.

- Enchanted Gravitite texture now changed, so as to save Sprite ID's.

Posted Image

- The time taken for Baby Moas to digest their Aechor Petals has now been decreased.

- Life Shards now have a new sprite, to make them look more like "Shards" rather than heart containers.

Posted Image

- Blue Aerclouds have a slightly new colour. It uses a more cyan-like colour now.

Posted Image

Bug Fixes:

- Spawning issues have finally been fixed (Zephyrs and Aerwhales are now less common, and Aechor Plants more common. There are more adjustments, but too many to list).

- Cockatrices and Zephyrs now despawn when on Peaceful mode.

- Aerwhales and Zephyrs now despawn when stuck.

- Fixed the Glowstone Dust description in the Book of Lore: Volume 2.

- Fixed the Glowstone block description in the Book of Lore: Volume 2.

- Fixed the descriptions of some Obsidian items in the Book of Lore: Volume 3.

- Enchanting Golden Darts and Buckets of Poison now works as intended.

- Golden Swets now work correctly.

- Baby Moa's no longer lay eggs.

- You can now configure the spawn rate of Aether mobs in mod_Aether.cfg (/.minecraft/config/). 0 = no longer spawn.

- Aerwhales which were previously set on fire should no longer be in flames. They are also now immune to fire.

- Swets, Aerwhales and Zephyrs now despawn correctly, previously they would not despawn and prevent spawning of other creatures.

- Fixed a bug where Blue and Gold clouds were not generating into the world naturally. Newly explored areas or new Aether worlds will now generate with Blue and Gold clouds.

- Saddled Moas no longer despawn.

- From now on, beds which are placed in the Aether will not explode, and can be slept in as usual. Beds which have been placed prior to Patch V1.02 will still explode. To fix this, just recollect the bed and place it again.

- Bonemeal can now grow Skyroot saplings and Golden Oak saplings. You can also use it on Aether Grass to grow a group of White and Purple flowers.

- You can no longer move the Bronze Boss with the Hammer of Notch projectile.

- Fixed a bug where the initiating a fight with the Gold Boss would cause massive lag spikes.

- Fixed a bug where Black Moa's would only be able to perform 6 mid-air jumps instead of the intended 8 mid-air jumps.

- The Cloud Sentries which are spawned from the Cloud Staff dungeon reward no longer make human "hurt" sounds when damaged.

- Fixed an audio-related issue with Moas and Flying Pigs, where they would build up "step sounds" while flying, and would play them all at once when landing on the ground.

- Fixed a bug where Silver Dungeons were rarer than Gold Dungeons.

- Many more small bugs have been fixed, but there were too many for me to remember them or list them. I can assure you that the above fixes were the biggest.

- Added 3 new in-game soundtracks, all exclusive to the Aether. Thanks to our new composer, Emile, for creating these wonderful pieces! You can hear them in-game, just like any other Minecraft music.

- Unique "Victory" tunes have been added when defeating Bronze and Silver bosses.

- A small "Achievement" tune has been added when completing an Aether achievement.

- When initiating in a fight with a boss, a Health Bar will now appear on the top centre of your screen. The Boss will also have a randomly generated name. For example: "GeneratedName, the Valkyrie Queen".

Posted Image

- Added a new "Flying Cow" mob. While they are nothing too special, they do drop leather when killed. These creatures can be saddled and flown around.

Posted Image

- Added a new "Aerbunny" mob. These creatures are friendly, and will hop around the Aether peacefully. Aerbunnies drop string when killed. This means, with the combined additions of the Aerbunny and Flying Cow, you can now craft Saddles in the Aether without returning to the surface world.

Posted Image

- Added a new "Whirlwind" mob. These hostile entities will throw you into the air when you get too close.

Posted Image

- Added a new "Quicksoil Glass" block. Not only can it be used for building materials, but it also gives off a dim amount of light (and of course, speeds up mobs movement speed while in contact with them). They can be gained by enchanting Quicksoil.

Posted Image

- Added a new "Zanite Block". This is a purely aesthetic block, for the purpose of storage and building materials. It can be crafted with 4 Zanite Gemstones. You can also craft the Zanite Block back into 4 Zanite Gemstones if you would like to regain them.

Posted Image

Posted Image

- Added a new "White Flower" block. These are commonly generated flowers in the Aether. At the moment they are purely aesthetic, but will have crafting purposes in the future.

Posted Image

- Added a new "Purple Flower" block. These are slightly rarer than White Flowers, and can be crafted into 2 Purple Dye items.

Posted Image

- Added a new "Freezer" block. This new block was suggested by one of our fans on the Mantis bug/idea tracker. We thought it was a neat enough idea to implement. Basically, it works very similarly to the furnace in design. However, it uses Icestone as a fuel, and can be used to freeze various different items. For example: you can freeze water from water buckets into Ice blocks, or freeze Cold Aerclouds into Blue Aerclouds. Although there aren't many freezable items and blocks at this stage, the Freezer's use will be hugely expanded in future patches.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

- Added a new "Ice Ring and Ice Pendant". When worn, these accessories will freeze all water and lava around the player. They slowly degrade while worn, so they do not last forever. These accessories can be obtained by freezing Gold or Iron accessories with the new Freezer block. You CANNOT freeze Zanite accessories into Ice accessories, only Gold and Iron.

Posted Image

Posted Image

- Added a new "Healing Stone" item. Heals 2 hearts of health, and is stackable. These items can be obtained by enchanting Holystone blocks with your Enchanter. This was implemented to balance out the issues with overpowered Ambrosium Shards.

Posted Image

- Added four new craftable capes: "White, Blue, Red and Yellow". These capes can be crafted with their respective wool colour. Blue Capes can be crafted with any type of blue wool. These capes are purely aesthetic.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

- Added four new Dungeon Rewards. One of them is a Bronze Dungeon reward, and the other three are Silver Dungeon rewards.

Posted Image

- Added a completely new "Main Menu" which is interchangable in-game and with the mod_Aether.cfg file. This menu, by default, has an "Aether Theme", with Aether-styled buttons and logos. It will also preview the last point you were located at in your previously played world. All progress made in the menu (time of day, etc) is not actually saved, so when you re-enter the world it will still be at the last point you played. This menu is highly configurable, though, and has a few neat features. We've added three new buttons on the top right hand corner of the screen: "Q" for Quick Load, "T" for Toggle Theme, and "W" for Toggle World. The Quick Load feature allows you to instantly jump into the world that the menu is currently previewing, without ANY loading times. The Toggle Theme feature allows you to switch between the "Classic" style of buttons and logos (which includes the Minecraft logo, etc), or the "Aether" style of buttons and logos. The Toggle World feature allows you to turn world previewing on or off. While world previewing is off, it will display a menu very similar in structure to the normal menu in Minecraft, but you still have the option to use the "Aether" styled buttons and logos with the Toggle Theme feature. However, the only way to use a particular menu by default, you have to configure the menu with mod_Aether.cfg, which can be found in /.minecraft/config/. By default, "aetherMenu = true" means that Minecraft will always load with the Aether styled buttons and logo. If you change that to "aetherMenu = false", your game will always load with Minecraft styled buttons and logos. Additionally, the default "worldMenu = true" means that your game will always preview your previously played world on start up. However, if you change that to "worldMenu = false", your game will always start up with the classic Minecraft menu in normal Minecraft.

The Aether NO LONGER WORKS WITH SINGLE PLAYER COMMANDS. It uses an API called Player API, which basically allows several mods to edit the Entity Player. However, Single Player Commands has not used this new API yet, so you cannot run the two mods at the same time or else it will CRASH. I expect a patch/quick fix will be up shortly!

ADDITIONALLY: The Aether DOES NOT WORK with ShockAhPI r5 and r6, since it directly overwrites Player API (similarly to SPC). However, we have created a new version of ShockAhPI which utilizes Player API. Even though Shockah is currently on holidays, he has given us permission to distribute this version of the API with adf.ly (as he is one of the Aether team members). The new download link for this fixed version will be below. IF YOU HAVE V1.01 CURRENTLY IN YOUR JAR FILE, YOU MUST USE A FRESH JAR OTHERWISE IT WILL CRASH. THE PATCH DOES NOT WORK WHEN SIMPLY PASTING OVER V1.01.

There is also one known bug with the current menu: it seems that, because of the way we load the menu music, it has a 2-4 second stall upon opening Minecraft. It's not a huge delay, but sometimes it may be confused with a blackscreen. It actually isn't, you just need to wait a few seconds for the menu to do its thing.

We've been working quite hard on this patch, and would appreciate any donations from our fans. Anything helps; it's the thought that counts! Posted Image

HOW TO INSTALL VIDEO - STEP BY STEP (V1.01, these videos are outdated!):

Thanks to DirtyMoDz7s for the video!

Thanks to RZGamez for the video!

It's finally here...

One of the biggest projects in Minecraft Modding history is now completed. Five very well-known and talented modders (Kingbdogz, Kodaichi, Shockah, Flan and 303) have joined forces to develop the Aether, a celestial realm found in outer limits of the atmosphere. The Aether is what you could call the "antipole" of the Nether. The Nether is a network of desolate, fiery caverns filled with bloodstained Cobblestone and sticky Soulsand; it lies beneath the very soil of our Minecraft world. The Aether, on the other hand, is a collection of floating plains and islands, all connected together to create a breathtaking dimension of the skies. Even during the night, the Aether is still quite peaceful, and a normal day in the Aether is the equivalent of three days on the surface.

Posted Image

Aerwhales, the gentle giants of the Aether, can be found floating in the horizon, munching on Golden Oaks and strips of Blue Aerclouds as the sun climbs higher in the sky. When the sun falls, Cockatrices crawl away from their well-hidden nests, ready to attack. Peaceful as they may seem, these deadly birds shoot poisonous needles at you when provoked. They are one of the few hostile mobs in the Aether.

Posted Image

The Aether isn't always fun and games though; elaborate dungeons are protected by powerful Guardians and sleeping sentries which await watchfully. They can be found in the sides of massive floating islands, containing locked loot chests with otherwise unobtainable singular items and blocks worth the effort of slaying their key bearing protectors.

Posted Image

Dungeons have three levels of difficulty. Bronze, Silver and Gold; Bronze being the easiest, and Gold being the hardest. This means that the Bronze Dungeon will be easier to handle, but the Dungeon will only yield "good" items. Silver Dungeons are slightly harder, and reward you with much better unique items. Gold Dungeons are extremely hard, but you will be rewarded with incredibly powerful items. These unique rewards CANNOT be obtained any other way.

Posted Image

Moas, peaceful and majestic giant birds, populate the Aether in three different colours: Blue, White and Black. Wild Moas cannot be tamed, but they do occasionally drop eggs of their respective colour. These eggs can be incubated with the Incubator block (using Ambrosium Torches). Once incubated, they can be fed with the Aechor Petals of Aechor Plants. They require 8 petals in total to grow, but are not always hungry and will occasionally refuse your offer (which can be done by right clicking them with the Aechor Petal). When grown, you have now completely tamed the Moa, and a saddle can be placed on their backs to ride. Blue Moas can perform 3 mid-air jumps, White Moas can perform 4 mid-air jumps, and Black Moas can perform 8 mid-air jumps.

Posted Image

Flying Pigs can also be found wandering around the Aether, and occasionally flying freely through the air. These creatures can be saddled with a Saddle, and flown around without having to deal with a taming process. This allows players to quickly hop into the action. However, Flying Pigs can only jump once, and do not have the privilege of mid-air jumps like the powerful flying Moas.

Posted Image

The Portal to the Aether is made out of a Glowstone Frame, and can be activated with a Bucket of Water!

New Accessory System:

Posted Image

We've implemented an entirely new "Accessories System" for the mod. This will include 8 entirely new slots to customize your character. Items such as Pendants, Rings, Gloves, Capes and even special Shields can be worn. Various "Miscellaneous Accessories" can also be worn in the two blank slots.

Posted Image

Above is an example of Accessory items being worn.

Posted Image

Description: Pendants can be worn on your character with the new Accessory System. They are worn over the top of the players skin, so when Armour is worn it will be hidden. Gold and Iron Pendants are simply decorative accessories, but Zanite Pendants will increase your mining speed when worn. Zanite accessories slowly degrade when worn, and the more damage it takes, the faster your mining speed with increase. Zanite accessories also slightly increase your armour.

Posted Image

Description: Rings can be worn on your character with the new Accessory System. Gold and Iron Rings are simply decorative accessories, but Zanite Rings (like the Pendants) will increase your mining speed when worn.

Posted Image

Description: Capes can be worn on your character with the new Accessory System. They are worn on your back and can be seen very clearly when in third person mode. Normal "Swet Capes" (image above) are simply decorative, but one particular Dungeon Reward (which is a cape) has a very useful ability.

Posted Image

Description: Gloves can be worn on your character with the new Accessory System. They are worn on your hands and can also be seen in first-person view. These provide extra protection for the player, and with some special armour sets, are required to activate the "Set Ability".

New Blocks:

Aether Dirt

Posted Image

Description: Aether dirt is the basic dirt in the Aether, and will grow into Aether Grass when exposed to sun light. It is much easier to mine than normal dirt found on the surface.

Skyroot Logs

Posted Image

Description: Skyroot Logs are the main base of Skyroot Trees. They provide the basic essential for your Aether adventures, and can be crafted into four Skyroot Planks.

Skyroot Leaves

Posted Image

Description: Skyroot Leaves are the "Leaf" blocks of Skyroot Trees. On chance, they will drop a Skyroot Sapling to replant.

Golden Oak Logs

Posted Image

Description: Golden Oak Logs make up the base of Golden Oak trees. They are embedded with Golden Amber, which can be used to craft very powerful Golden Darts.

Golden Oak Leaves

Posted Image

Description: Golden Oak Leaves are the "Leaf" blocks of Golden Oak trees. They occasionally drop Golden Oak Saplings and Golden Apples.

Skyroot Sapling

Posted Image

Description: Skyroot Saplings allow you to replant Skyroot Trees.

Golden Oak Sapling

Posted Image

Description: Golden Oak Saplings are occasionally dropped from Golden Oak Leaves. They can be replanted into Aether Dirt to regrow a Golden Oak tree.

Skyroot Planks

Posted Image

Description: Skyroot Planks can be crafted from Skyroot Logs. They can be used to craft Skyroot Sticks and from there, Skyroot Tools.

Posted Image

Description: Holystone is the common stone block in the Aether, and can be used to craft Holystone Tools.

Mossy Holystone

Posted Image

Description: Mossy Holystone is a rare Holystone block that can be found at the base of an Aether Dungeon entrance.

Cold Aercloud

Posted Image

Description: Cold Aercloud is a very common type of Aercloud found in the Aether. Long strips of them can be found in the formations of clouds. They have very strange properties; while sometimes they will prevent fall damage, other times they will not. Use them wisely, but be wary when falling from large heights. They can also be crafted into Cloud Parachutes.

Blue Aerclouds

Posted Image

Description: Blue Aerclouds are slightly rare than Cold Aerclouds, and bounce mobs when coming into contact.

Gold Aerclouds

Posted Image

Description: Gold Aerclouds are the rarest type of Aercloud. Alone they do not have any special properties from normal Cold Aerclouds, but they can be crafted into Golden Parachutes which have 20 uses rather than the normal 1.

Posted Image

Description: Quicksoil can be found on the sides of islands. When mobs walk on it, their movement speed is increased. However, it takes a while to build up speed. These can be both a good block to abuse its speed, but also a dangerous block to come into contact with.

Posted Image

Description: Icestone can be found in large chunks, usually on the sides of islands. One placement, they will freeze all water and lava sources around it.

Ambrosium Ore

Posted Image

Description: Ambrosium Ore is a common block found in the Aether. It drops Ambrosium Shards, which can be used for Torches, fueling Enchanters, and even healing.

Zanite Ore

Posted Image

Description: Zanite Ore is slightly rarer than Ambrosium Ore, and can be found on the sides of islands. Zanite Gemstones are dropped from these ore blocks, and can be used for a variety of recipes (including Zanite Tools and Zanite Armour).

Gravitite Ore - Enchanted Gravitite

Posted ImagePosted Image

Description: Gravitite Ore is the rarest ore-type in the Aether, and can be enchanted into "Enchanted Gravitite" blocks. Gravitite Ore, by default, will float up into the air. However, Enchanted Gravitite only floats up into the air when powered with redstone. Enchanted Gravitite is required to craft powerful Gravitite Tools and Armour.

Posted Image

Description: A decorative Pillar block found on the outside of Silver Dungeons.

Pillar Top

Posted Image

Description: A decorative Pillar Top block found on the outside of Silver Dungeons.

Ambrosium Torch

Posted Image

Description: Ambrosium Torches are like regular torches, just crafted with Skyroot Sticks and Ambrosium Shards instead.

Posted Image

Description: Enchanters are a new type of tile entity which can be crafted. They require Holystone blocks and one Zanite Gemstone to craft. By default, it uses Ambrosium Shards as fuel, and can repair damaged tools or items; the more damaged the tool is, the more fuel it requires. It can also enchant a few existing items into more powerful versions.

Posted Image

Description: Incubators are a new type of tile entity which can be crafted. They require Holystone blocks and one Ambrosium Torch. By default, it used Ambrosium Torches as fuel, and can incubate Moa Eggs into Baby Moas.

Locked Chest

Posted Image

Description: Locked Chests are found in Dungeons, and cannot be broken. To acquire their rare lot within, you must obtain a key from the Dungeon Boss.

Dungeon Stones

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Description: Decorative blocks found within the Aether Dungeons.

Dungeon Lightstones

Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Description: Decorative blocks found within the Aether Dungeons which radiate a small amount of light.

Posted Image

Description: A slightly transparent block which is resistant to all explosions.

New Items:

Skyroot Stick

Posted Image

Description: Skyroot Sticks are used for several different crafting recipes. They are crafted with Skyroot Planks.

Ambrosium Shard

Posted Image

Description: Ambrosium Shards can be obtained from Ambrosium Ore blocks. Not only are they used for crafting torches and fueling Enchanters, they can be used as healing items as well.

Zanite Gemstone

Posted Image

Description: Zanite Gemstones are found from the Zanite Ore blocks. They can be used to craft a wide variety of items and blocks (including Enchanters, Zanite Toolsets, and Zanite Armour).

Cloud Parachutes - Golden Parachutes

Posted Image

Description: Clouds Parachutes are items which can be used to safely fall from the Aether. When you transition from the Aether to the Surface (upon falling) the Parachute will automatically activate and drift you down safely. These parachutes are a one use only, and can be manually activated as well. Golden Parachutes do the same, except have twenty uses.

Moa Eggs

Posted Image

Description: Moas, peaceful and majestic giant birds, populate the Aether in three different colours: Blue, White and Black.

Golden Amber

Posted Image

Description: Golden Amber is used to craft Golden Darts, and can be obtained by harvesting logs from a Golden Oak tree.

Aechor Petal

Posted Image

Description: Aechor Petals can be obtained from poisonous, purple Aechor Plants, and are used to create Poison Dart Shooters and feed Baby Moas.

Dungeon Keys

Posted Image

Description: Dungeon Keys can be obtained by their respective Bosses. They are used to open the locked chest, which contains the Dungeon's rare loot.

Blue Music Disk

Posted Image

Description: Blue Music Disks can be obtained by enchanting a Green or Gold Music Disk. It will play a new song by author Noisestorm.

Posted Image

Description: Golden Darts can be crafted with Golden Amber, Skyroot Sticks, and Feathers. Additionally, you can enchant and poison these Golden Darts. Poison Darts are not affected by gravity, making it great for sniping down far-distance enemies.

Dart Shooters

Posted Image

Description: Dart Shooters can be crafted with Skyroot Planks and a Zanite Gemstone. They can also be enchanted to shoot Enchanted Darts, and combined with an Aechor Petal to shoot Poison Darts.

Skyroot Toolset

Posted Image

Description: The Skyroot Toolset is the weakest Toolset in the Aether. However, it has one of the best side-abilities, which is to gain double-drops from the blocks they mine and the enemies they kill. The double-drops cannot be abused though, as the Toolset will only return double drops from Generated blocks that have already existed in the world. You cannot place a dirt block and then mine it to get double drops, as it is NOT a generated block, it is placed by the player.

Holystone Toolset

Posted Image

Description: The Holystone toolset is slightly more powerful than the Skyroot Toolset in terms of strength, and occasionally drops an extra Ambrosium Shard upon mining a block or attacking a mob.

Zanite Toolset

Posted Image

Description: The Zanite Toolset is the second most powerful toolset, and has the side-ability of getting stronger the more you use it.

Gravitite Toolset

Posted Image

Description: The Gravitite Toolset is the strongest toolset. Normal harvesting tools can right click their respective blocks to make them float up, while the Gravitite Sword can launch mobs in the air when attacking.

Skyroot Buckets

Posted Image

Description: Skyroot Buckets can be crafted with three Skyroot Planks. They can collect Milk and Water, but not Lava. They can also collect poison from Aechor Plants, and those Poison Buckets can be enchanted into Remedy Buckets to heal your poison side-effects.

Lore Books

Posted Image

Description: Lore Books can be used to reveal more information about an item or block. Just right click while you have one in hand, and place an item or block in the slot. There are three volumes: One for the Surface, Nether and Aether. The Aether volume can be obtained when you first join the Aether. The rest can be obtained in Dungeon chests.

Victory Medal

Posted Image

Description: Victory Medals are items which can be obtained by defeating Valkyries, protectors of the Silver Dungeon. They are used to prove your skills in fighting to the Silver boss.

Zanite Armour

Posted Image

Description: Zanite Armour has the strength of Iron, but gets stronger the more it is damaged.

Gravitite Armour

Posted Image

Description: Gravitite Armour, when fully worn (with Gloves as well), will give you very high jumps. It will also prevent all fall damage. It are as strong as Diamond Armour.

Dungeon Rewards

Posted Image

Description: Above are all the Dungeon Rewards you can get. For the sake of surprise, I will not name or describe any of the rewards, so that you can get the best experience possible when looting Dungeons. You will get better rewards depending on what type of Dungeon you conquer. The blocks which make up a dungeon cannot be mined until the boss within is defeated.

Bronze Dungeon

Posted Image

Description: Bronze Dungeons are the easiest of the Dungeons to defeat, but are still challenging and yield very powerful rewards. The Boss within cannot be harmed with swords or projectiles, but instead requires a PICKAXE to defeat.

Silver Dungeon

Posted Image

Description: Silver Dungeons are slightly harder than the Bronze Dungeon, and contain slightly more powerful rewards. These Dungeons are found in the skies as great temples, and are guarded by the humble natives of the Aether; the Valkyries. They will not fight you unless provoked, and honor a fair fight. Beware: not every chest is as it seems.

Gold Dungeon

Posted Image

Description: Gold Dungeons are the hardest Dungeons to defeat, and contain the most powerful rewards and items in the mod. Unlike other Dungeons, the Gold Dungeon does not have any defenders leading up to the Boss; the Boss greets you as soon as you enter the Dungeon. This Dungeon can be found in giant floating mountains with a collection of Golden Oaks on the mountain's top. This Boss in particular cannot be harmed with any item in the game; you must figure out a way to defeat it once you confront it.

Note regarding the wiki: it's getting quite out of date, help with it is very welcome. Translations of the main pages to other languages would also be useful.

Note regarding translations: many of them are somewhat out-of-date. Updates would be welcome. In particular, I would like updates to the German, Russian and Spanish versions as they are the most used of the out-of-dates versions.

    Millénaire Forum

Millénaire is a single-player mod for Minecraft. It aims to fill the "emptyness" of single-player worlds by adding NPC villages to it, with loose 11th-century Norman, North Indian and Mayans themes and additional cultures planned.

Villages are populated with men, women and children of various kinds, who perform tasks such as trading with the player, expending current buildings or improving existing ones, cultivating crops such as wheat in Norman villages and rice in Indian ones, crafting tools and powerful amulets, etc. As the village expends, the number of villagers increases as couples have children who grow up into new adults.

Help villages grow by trading with them and be rewarded with unique items such as Normand and Indian food or statues and tapestries to decorate your house with. And if they start liking you enough, they might even build you a house of your own.

Millénaire is available in the following languages: French, English, German, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Czech, Swedish, Dutch, Portuguese, Slovenian, Hungarian, Chinese, Arab, Estonian, Norwegian, Ukrainian (more coming!)

Listen to the villagers discussing their job, life or simply the weather.

    Making new cultures

Since Millénaire 1.4, the bulk of a new culture can be made without code (not just buildings and village types like before, but new NPCs as well). As such I'm interested in player-made cultures to integrate in the main game, provided they fit the general theme of Millénaire of "real" cultures from around the 11th century. Players interested in producing one for Millénaire should PM-me about it. If we agree on the idea, I'll provide support in the form of help on how to mod Millénaire and in the form of whatever new code might be needed (for new items, blocks or good productions), though likely not with the buildings and NPCs themselves. I reserve the right to change anything I might not like in a culture I'm shipping with the mod itself, but in practice I intend to leave as much of a free hand as possible to culture designers.Contribution welcome, it helps make Millénaire a rich game!

    Help Wanted

    - There is a lot of content to fill up in the Millénaire Wiki, feel free to help: http://millenaire.org/wiki/
    - Female and children sounds
    - It would be very useful if people who have been playing for a while could post detailed accounts of how they play Millénaire, what they like/don't like, what their goals are when playing, etc. I need more comprehensive feedback, not just small reactions to individual features.
    - New lone buildings: the more different kind of lone buildings (or variations of the same kind), the better. People wanting to do lone buildings in the same style as the existing ones are welcomed. You can post your creation in the thread, preferably with a screenshot. I'll add those I think fit in Millénaire.

DISCLAIMER FROM THE MODS - Vechs is currently on a break from mapmaking and does not currently check this thread, nor have plans to make or update maps at this time. It would be hugely appreciated to take any comments about requests for his maps to his Youtube channel, Vechz, as that would be the best way to actually be seen by him! Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Vechs presents a new map series...

    Posted Image

Have you ever been playing Minecraft and said to yourself "Man, I wish this could be harder... I haven't died nearly enough today."? In the spirit of I Wanna Be the Guy and Kaizo Mario World, these game maps will be very difficult. It could be low amounts of a critical resource, or deviously placed monster spawners, traps, or just general meanness on my part, I want to take the normal Minecraft experience and really put pressure on the player.

The main objective of my maps is to find and complete the Victory Monument. This is a structure with slots on it for blocks. To win a Super Hostile map, you must place each of the requested blocks in the appropriate slot on the Victory Monument. There are 16 colors of wool blocks to find, and also the 3 material blocks, of iron, gold, and diamond.

CTM stands for Complete the Monument, which is the genre this map series created. Unlike Adventure maps, which typically have very rigid rules and restrictions, CTM maps are about playing Minecraft in a mostly normal fashion, but with a goal to work towards.

    Super Hostile Standard Rules:

    1) Find and complete the Victory Monument.
    2) Find wool in chests (Fleecy Boxes) or on special boss enemies (Fleecy Mobs) scattered around the map, do NOT use dyes or spider string for wools!
    3) You may craft the Iron, Gold, and Diamond blocks.
    4) Use at least Easy difficulty, and never Peaceful. (I balance around Normal.)
    5) Do not leave the boundaries of the map and go into normally generated Minecraft terrain.
    6) Survive in any way you can think of. (Yes, you can mine, craft, and place blocks.)
    7) You may use spider string wool and sheep wool to craft beds and other items, but not for the Victory Monument.
    8) You may not pick up, craft, or move Ender Chests.

For the most part, Super Hostile is like playing Minecraft normally, but it's more difficult and you have a long-term goal to work towards. Also you may find yourself in some unusual terrain. Oh, and the map is designed to kill you, so keep that in mind.

    Super Hostile Respawn Ratings:

Easy - You can die and respawn over and over, forever, without penalty.
Medium - If you die without having a bed spawn set, it's GAME OVER. Guard your bed!
Hard - If you die, it's GAME OVER. A true Super Hostile experience.

    Super Hostile Community Challenge Ratings:

A numerical rating from one to five, which reflects how the Minecraft community gauges the challenge of a particular map. One is easiest, while five is hardest. I will try to take the average of at least 500 votes from forum members.

    Minecraft Mods and Super Hostile:

I balance around vanilla Minecraft, and mods that impact the gameplay are technically cheating.

However, there are some mods that are fine for you to use:
    - Mods that let you chop trees at the base (Like Terraria trees)
    - Mods that make Endermen not pick up blocks.
    - Mods that make your hand-held torch give light. (Should be part of the vanilla game, IMHO.)
    - Mods that don't affect the gameplay. (Graphic tweaks, UI tweaks, etc.)

    Super Hostile Original Soundtracks:
Some of these maps include theme music by Kevin MacLeod.
(Play it in the background with your choice of media player, if you want to.)

So, without further ado, let's get on to the maps!

This map is a network of linked underground caverns. The map takes place entirely underground, and the whole thing is wrapped in a giant cube of bedrock (no escape!) This was the first map of the series where I introduced the Victory Monument goal system. To me, it has a very "Super Metroid" or "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" feel to it.

Note: This map is not compatible with SMP.

A dark, brutal world of nothing but despair. Voted for and requested by the community, this map starts out brutal and stays that way. Unlike Legendary, in which the difficulty gradually increased the farther you got into the map, Nightmare Realm is the real deal from the very second you load into the map.

What will be your high score? (You'll never actually complete the monument...)

The map reminds me a little of the old NES Megaman games. Your spawning area is a central hub, from which you can access the other areas of the map, which surround it. There are many paths and routes you could take from the start, and don't be afraid to unzip fresh copies of the map to try a new starting strategy.

Vechs' personal mod for Mount and Blade: Warband. This mod is aimed at making the game a bit less grindy, and tweaking some aspects of the game that were frustrating. The most popular changes include making Tavern keepers function as Ransom Brokers, so you don't have run around looking for a Ransom Broker, increasing the ammunition count for throwing weapons so that they are more useful, changing the faction colors to look nicer, and be easier to read, letting your army continue to fight if you get knocked out, being able to start a conversation with Village Elders and Guild Masters directly from the map, instead of having to run around in a city/village and physically finding them, and making cattle follow you instead of you having to "chase" them to guide them. Click Spoilers for a full list of what this mod changes.
